This thread reminded me of a comment that a guy working at Hecht’s said the other day to me. He has a granddaughter a year older than me, so we were talking about my school and stuff…and then he said, “You’re to pretty to be intellectual!” WTF? That is SO laden with stereotypes it’s not even funny. That’s saying that because someone is relatively pretty they must be an airhead, and that if someone intellectual, they must be ugly! I was too shocked to say anything.
WKRP in Cincinnati: Bailey vs Jennifer
elmwood hit the nail on the head. It’s Bailey all the way!

Oh, a show that was on when I was between ages 1 and 5? I should have known. So…do you prefer Andie or Jen? You’re not allowed to beg off and pick Joey, since she’s neither geek nor pretty girl.
Posted by ski: "If you had your choice between an ugly geek chick or a beautiful airhead who would you choose to spend the rest of your life with and why? "
Beautiful airheads need love too. I’ll take one.
Count me among the geekophiles! I think that nerdy guys are truly sexy!
Sigh.
Now where are all these men who find geek-girls attractive in MY town?
Nowhere, that’s where.
So I’m sitting alone watching ‘Aida’ and petting the cat.
No, that wasn’t a euphemism, you filthy thinker. It’s just a cat.
Sorry, can’t answer the question set like this. Looks and personality and intelligence are all important to me – the vapid airhead might be a fantastic, fun, generous, warm person and the super-sharp geek a bitchy, snide backstabber. And if you try to set the question any more clearly (“vapid, bitchy airhead vs intelligent, fun geek”) then you’re already pushing people towards an answer anyway.
Well - I prefer a partner on my intellectual level. Since I’m a geek chick - that means he/she has to be a geek. Mine’s a geek hunk Geekgrrls are GOOD babee! I know some sexy geekgrrls myself. rrrrowr.
Can we widen this poll to include nerds? I probably classify as a nerd-girl. I’m bad with anything more complicated than scissors, but I, um…read. For fun.
I’m so ashamed!..
My fiance is probably a nerd/geek, although he doesn’t wear glasses. I do, though. Coke-bottle-ones. He likes both computers and books. I like nerds and geeks, although the stereotypical unwashed computer geek kind of scares me. I’ve met too many of them.
I prefer a man with a brain over a hunky boy.
You haven’t mentioned ‘geeky’ girls that are pretty. I know quite a few of them. I am one of them.
Geek, definitely! My hubby’s a geek whose looks improved with time; it just took a little positive attention from me to get him interested in nicer clothes, grooming better, etc.
And I’m a geek girl! I was kind of plain in looks in high school but blossomed in college; the environment and finding a mess of guys interested in geek girls really helped.
Looks can fade - or improve! - with time, but intelligence (and personality) are so important for interesting discussions.
Give me the hot looking one every time.
I specifically generalized. (Beware, Oxymoron) I thought the question would be subjective and it’s interesting to see the conotations people usually associate with a stereo-type. Such as the “geeks arn’t hot”.
I myself am a geek-o-phile. I consider intelligence to be dead sexy. It’s great that there are women out there that feel the same way. Gives me a little hope.
I’ll take a geek chick, especially if she’s a sex geek.
I’d take Hedy Lamarr. She reminds me of…me.
How you doin’?
The two choices are not well-enough defined. Is the OP saying that geek chicks are, by definition of being geeks, automatically funny, charming, smart, well read, interesting, and witty, but NOT good-looking; while beautiful airheads are ONLY beautiful and have nothing else of value to their personalities? Geeks can be crashing bores too. If I’d have to look at him anyway, I’d take a boring gorgeous hunk over a boring geek any day.
OP Here!
I’m letting people read thier own views into it. It’s more free form this way. I’ve made my proclivites known. Now, if only the cute movie chick at my local Suncoast will agree to see me. <sigh>
The more you look and behave like Tina Fey, the closer you are to my feminine ideal.
I believe that puts me SQUARELY in the Geek Girl camp. I already know I’m in it because I consider Weezer shows an ideal place to meet women.
I guess I qualify as a geek girl, and I’m happier with that than I would be being a beautiful airhead. As for my own tastes, I’d rather be with a guy that may not be Mel Gibson, but he’s intelligent, we share interests, and he’s all mine. Like my very own Mr. Naz.
