I’ve only seen a handful of them, maybe the first four? Anyway, the first one was almost physically painful to watch. I loathed it. Azkhaban was my favorite of the ones I saw.
Never read any of the books. I saw the first four movies, and excepting Prisoner of Azkhaban, they were all pretty dire. Goblet of Fire was the worst, I think - it really failed on just about every level conceivable.
The only movie I don’t care for as much as the others is The Order of the Phoenix. I felt like they butchered the book and left out way too much stuff. Luna’s character especially was ruined in the movie. Plus the editing was terrible and made for a very choppy movie. I think someone on here said it best, they they felt like they had watched a 2 hour trailer for the movie instead of the actual film.
Have not read - I went with Chamber of Secrets, but really the first two movies were both just brutally bad. Deathly Hallows pt. 1 and maybe Goblet of Fire were the worst of the rest, but those were at least watchable, a level which 1 & 2 aspired to and failed miserably at reaching.
Haven’t read the books (hate her prose) and really enjoyed all of the movies up until Half Blood Prince, which I haven’t been able to get through yet. I will have to try again soon, because I want to see the last two.
Not an optimist … a parent.
Truth be told, I think I’ve only seen the first four (maybe 5, I’ve blocked it out) … after that my kids were A) old enough to go see it with friends instead of with me, and 2) smart to figure out how much those movies drove me nuts.
The first two movies are terrible. I hate Chris Columbus. I’m so glad they had different directors for the later films. I voted for Chamber of Secrets.
