Oddly enough, today is the first day I’ve ever heard him actually deal with the prospect of losing. It only took him over a year.
September 26
Can I change my vote? I want to go with After Nov. 8. With his brand-name in tatters and sensible people all deserting him, all Trump has left is his “candidacy.” I predict that long after his Election Day loss, we’ll be hearing accusations of cheating, more prattle about the Second Amendment, etc. He’ll announce some products to cash in on his new admirers, but I’m not sure what. Trump shotguns? Adult diapers?
Am actually scared that this is the year of the crazy, Brexit first then Duterte in the Philippines, maybe Trump can pull it off?
“The position has been filled” would be more accurate (even would a generic email thanking him for his recent application, but advising we’ve decided to go with a candidate better suited to our needs).
Eh I kinda like “We’ve decided to go in a different direction.” The classic put-off. Don’t go away mad, just go away.
Of course, “You’re fired!” is highly viscerally satisfying in a number of ways.
End of September 16 so I put 1st October. Trump is already exhausted and making less and less sense, some of his latest rallies have degenerated into rambling word salad for parts of the speech. He suffers from psychological issues that he can’t control and a melt down of some kind is inevitable.
In the few clips I’ve seen in the last few days, he appears to be drunk.
Trump claims to never drink alcohol. It’s more likely to me that he’s doped up on prescription medications. Powerful anti-anxiety meds and possibly some form of legal amphetamine. He is known to have been a regular visitor to a Doctor Joseph Greenberg who who was notorious for prescribing speed like diet pills to every one of his visitors.
http://gawker.com/the-best-theory-of-1992-donald-trump-took-amphetamine-1755299885
Those things can only keep you going for so long, the crash is inevitable.
Yeah, I know he supposedly doesn’t drink. But his demeanor is that of someone who is drunk.
The point I was trying to make is that there are plenty of prescription medications that can make someone look like they are drunk if abused, and that Trump is suspected to have a history of such abuse.
I am afraid that Trump is riling up people and something bad could happen, but hearing how his campaign has hurt him and his brand does bring me some happiness.
He’ll stay running as long as there are huge rallies of cheering fans to salve his massive ego.
I used to think he would stay to the bitter end.
Now I think that the blowout will be so huge, and so undeniable, that he’ll bow out in mid-October while claiming the fix is in and the whole thing will be rigged.
Here is something I posted a week or two ago about how the campaign is hurting his corporate properties:
I am of the opinion that Donald J. Trump is in some deep financial shit and the $43 million write off was not one he could easily afford nor was something he was expecting to do when he started this ego trip. He has to continue the campaign so he can generate revenues for Trump corporate properties, and that is likely the #1 issue facing his campaign (in his mind) - how can he recoup that $43 million?
He will do this by having rallies near Trump properties (like the one in CT - very close to NYC), book his travel through Trump companies, use Trump organization employees and bill the campaign for their use, more.
There is going to come a day, however, when he looks at the cash flow projections and realizes that, to continue, more will need to go out than will come back in - the spigot of cash coming into his campaign will eventually stop, but the spigot of cash going out will continue. Ain’t nobody going to donate after November 8th*, but there will still be plenty of bills to pay.
The businessperson inside of me is really interested in this issue - is Trump going to stiff his campaign and try a cash grab? I know he’s not allowed to… but that doesn’t mean that he won’t try. After all, his actions of the past two weeks are the words of somebody building a case for a (very public) lawsuit: rigged elections, crooked press, crooked process, crooked polls… and I won’t be surprised if DJT convinces himself that he is due the donations because, “since the process was rigged, there was no need to spend money on organizations that were going to rig the election further against me, so why not let me keep the money since it was given to me?”
So, we will see. Again, I don’t think he will quit, but if he quits, it will be dictated by three things:
- If the other Republicans can push him out. (Not likely)
- His health. (A real possibility)
- His financial state. (the most likely thing that will cause him to quit)
*Really, about a week or two before, right? And for the Trump campaign, the donations well may run dry sometime in late September, early October… if not earlier.
is Trump desperate/stupid enough to do a disappearing act, claiming that assassins are out to get him? It is certainly a story his Trumpettes would swallow.
I’m reviving this thread I created five and a half years ago. Since it appears that the poll results did not survive the transition to Discourse, I found them on the Wayback Machine (thanks @Thudlow_Boink) and am posting them below.

I’m assuming most of the “Election Day- Trump Loses” are from after he became the nominee, and most of the “Election Day- Trump wins” were from after it was known. Terr anounced ED-TW early but even he admitted it was for the yuks, I’m guessing almost all the correct responses were not from 2015.
