Is it just me or is the probability of Trump quitting the race getting higher?

Trump over time has tended to abandon projects that were not performing and move on without a backward glance. His campaign is crashing and burning and every move he makes seemingly takes him deeper into the mire. IMO the chances of him quitting in the next 30 days are at least 50/50 if not more this point.

Do you think he will quit the race if it looks like a sure loser?

Oh I dearly hope so.

If you think so, put your [del]money[/del] reputation where your mouth is by responding to this poll.

I think he got into this situation because his enormous ego couldn’t fathom that he would possibly lose.

Now, he’s facing the prospect of losing for the first time (to him, anyway), and he doesn’t know what to do. So he’s a chimpanzee throwing shit at the walls, hoping something will stick.

Hence the talk about a “rigged” race. That’s the only way that he could possibly lose. The Democrats are conspiring against him.

So he can’t decide if he should duck out, admitting defeat, or sticking with this and claiming conspiracy. There’s no way for him to win. Not even a moral victory.

I expect Don the Con will stay in the race as long as the Republicans keep donating to his campaign. He’s funnelling that cash into his personal businesses.

For example, Donald rents office space for his campaign staff in Trump Tower. He recently raised the rent on office space in his Tower - so now money that his personal business is receiving from his campaign has increased.

The article goes on to detail some of the other ways that Donald Trump’s businesses are getting money from his campaign. The amount is increasing now that his fundraising numbers are improving.

I expect that as long as Trump can keep that campaign money flowing into his own businesses, he’ll be happy to go on running his campaign.

He’ll quit if he can somehow spin his quitting into more money for himself. If it’s more profitable to stay in and lose, then he’ll stay in.

It’s just like those bankruptcies of his. You don’t want to file too soon, you want to squeeze every last dime out of the business to your own personal benefit, and *then *file.

The man knows how to work the system like a champ.

Why would he quit? He’s getting attention, isn’t he?

Shodan

I don’t think he will quit. No way to spin QUIT into WINNER. If he rides it out, he can yell that the fix was in.

Saying that, if he were to quit, I would expect it to be at the very last minute. Like the day before election. If he is going to be a quitter, he will be the biggest quitter EVER.

If he quits it won’t be this far out. If he’s dead set on not winning, no reason he can’t do it at a later date and in the meantime he still gets lots of attention and donations.

You must be new to this game.

I would not be at all surprised if Trump quit before the election, but I think it’s more likely he’d quit after being elected (assuming he would even get elected).

No, but he could spin it into MARTYR (a still-living one, of course), and VICTIM.

Yeah… for a while I thought Trump was such an egotistical manbaby that he’d drop out before risking a chance of getting beaten by a girl. But my opinion of him has dropped since then. I assumed his presidential campaign must be enriching him in some way, but I didn’t guess that he was so brazenly converting cash into personal wealth.

(alright, cue the chorus from the “She’s doing it too” camp… I’m honestly interested in hearing it)

You can try.

John Oliver has given him an out.

Yep, and it’s all rigged anyway…

Don’t be silly. Trump knows he’s going to win, and this guy agrees.

i’m voting for some kind of illness, injury, or some vague unknown reason (Democrats!) that have made him rethink his campaign and turn the reins over to Pence.

I don’t think he’s quitting. The rigged narrative is in place, coupled with a racist claim about how black people vote. So he’s already explained why he will lose.

In the meantime, there’s always a chance that something truly damaging to Hillary comes out, or that some event like terrorism or a market collapse skews voters away from the status quo that Hillary represents. Given the bizarre Trump-Putin bromance, I don’t think I’m entirely paranoid in wondering if Russia might decide it is in their interest to help stage an event of that sort at the right time.

People have been making the claim that Trump will drop out of the Presidential race for almost two years, now. Ain’t gonna happen.

Wishful thinking doesn’t mean that ol’ Hillary is not going to have to face Trump during the debates. We live in interesting times.

Trumps “the election is rigged because those black people get to vote” message barely qualifies as subtext rather than just plain text.
