Poll: The Beatles' Worst Song

Yeah, even the lads had some bad tunes. I’ve included 20 songs for your consideration. The tune must have been composed by a Beatle and released by the Beatles. I’ve eliminated Revolution 9 on principal.

Other:

Love Me Do

There are a few on your list that I don’t know, but out of the ones I do, Old Brown Shoe is my least favorite.

And, Here Comes The Sun is in my top 5 Beatles songs.

Other: Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.

“Justify it”, huh? It’s a terrible, terrible song. Dumb lyrics, dumb, sing-songy melody.

My vote? “Blue Jay Way.” You can use more than one chord, George! Like this -

Exactly. It has no business being on that list.

A lot of George hate in that list…

Of those, I picked… wait…

You have Rain on that list? WTF? That’s as crazy as listing Here Comes the Sun!

Anyway, I chose Good Day Sunshine, the song I skip all the time while playing Revolver.

“The Long and Winding Road” isn’t torture, it leads to the gallows.

Other: Taxman. Grating vocals, juvenile political commentary.

A lot of great songs on that list…

Joe

Thirded. Neither does “The End.”

Other: Birthday. The only Beatles song that I always skip or change stations for.

I agree that there’s some good stuff on your list of potential worst.

I always thought Rocky Racoon was just…stupid!
Might be just me, though.

Hey Jude should be on that list, it’s way too long and repetitive.

I have to agree with most of that list though. You might have added Bungalow Bill.

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

She’s Leaving Home

For me, the melody is grating, the song drags on and, overall, it’s super cheesy.

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da was bad, but to me was the fun kind of bad. Does Revolution #9 even count as a song? That’s my choice.

Mister Moonlight - Plodding tune and it doesn’t even sound much like the Beatles. Although if Revolution 9 counts that would be my pick. Or some of the other white album filler like Rocky Raccoon or Bungalow Bill.

BTW I predict that nobody will pick Here Comes The Sun. Doesn’t everybody like that song?

Why are Here Comes the Sun and Yellow Submarine on the list? I’d always thought that critics of the day declared Yellow Submarine a musical masterpiece.

How about the Assistant Principal?

“The Long and Winding Road” is my choice. It’s a number one hit, but a pretty pathetic final song for the greatest rock group ever. The version on “Let it Be Naked” is tolerable, but it’s the one Beatles song I won’t listen to.

I actually like “Revolution #9,” just for its weirdness. Same for "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number).
