Some candidates have dropped out, some are no longer viable, opinion polls have changed and more States have voted. I am basically asking if the recent results have influenced, or changed your minds.
Assuming you have already voted in one of those states:
Is the person you voted for still in the running and, if you don’t mind sharing, who was it?
Are you still happy with the person you voted for?
If you were to vote today, would you change your vote?
Is the person you voted for still in the running and, if you don’t mind sharing, who was it?
Yes, it was Obama.
Are you still happy with the person you voted for?
While I have no real beef with Obama, I voted for him for one reason, and one reason only: so I could declare as a Democrat (Illinois has a closed primary) to increase my chances of getting a job with the state (and let’s not kid ourselves: in Illinois, your party affiliation most certainly does play a role in getting a state job, Rutan aside).
If you were to vote today, would you change your vote?
Well, if I weren’t trying to get a job with the state (see point #2), I most certainly would have voted for Huckabee. And despite the fact that he’s almost out, I still stand behind my hypothetical vote for him.
Illinois has an open primary. You walk in, say which primary ticket you want and we hand one to you, no questions asked. Take it from someone who worked the polls five days ago.
I’ve actually thought I should have voted for Obama in the Democratic primary. The Republican nomination is mostly wrapped up, and I was tempted to vote in the Democratic primary to keep out Hilary (too liberal and opportunistic for me). In Washington, your party pledge only applies to the current primary season.
Yes, it is; or, at least, it’s recorded somewhere. During the last race for governor, I asked for a Republican ballot at the primary specifically so I could vote against Jim Oberweis.
Now, of course, I keep on getting crap from the local Republican party. Which amuses the hell out of me, because I’m WAY on the other side of the aisle. And a couple football fields over. The only way I can even remotely THINK of that they would’ve gotten my name is through that primary.
1. Is the person you voted for still in the running and, if you don’t mind sharing, who was it?
Yep. Ron Paul. 2. Are you still happy with the person you voted for?
Sure am. 3. If you were to vote today, would you change your vote?
It’s a toss-up between Paul and Obama. I’m at a crossroads in a lot of my personal beliefs. I used to be a pretty strong deontologist, but now I’m leaning significantly harder to accepting the social construct theory of rights and utilitarianism. If deontology wins out, it’ll be Paul.
If I embrace the cynicism that’s slowly crept up on me that says we’re just sentient meat on a wet rock and that we might as well make the best out of it, it’ll be Obama.
4. Who would be your choice now?
See above.

Are you still happy with the person you voted for? somewhat.
If you were to vote today, would you change your vote? probably
Who would be your choice now? **After seeing him on 60 Minutes last night, I’d give the edge to Obama. But I’m one of those freaks that think both of them are excellent candidates. I’ll be happy to vote for either of them in November.

I voted for Hillary, but it wouldn’t take too much to convince me to vote for Obama instead. Given the chance to do it all over again, I’d vote for Obama. Or… Hillary.
