Today was my first day back at school for the spring semester, and seeing all my classmates again felt like a family reunion (the good kind).
Also, I’d had my hair blown out straight yesterday (normally it’s big and curly ;j ) so I was feeling mighty purdy all day and received many compliments.
Then I saw this kid Mike I know and when I said hey he said “what’s up, cutie?”
These things combined all made my day a very nice one, albeit a tired one.
Four different customers today told me I’d made their day and was very helpful and an asset to the company. Things like that are almost better than tips, because I don’t feel guilty for taking compliments the way I do for making money. Also I don’t work in a tip-dependent job.
And I got to go home half an hour early and was told to come in an hour late and leave half an hour early again tomorrow (to make up for the overtime I’d otherwise be earning due to extended schedule on Sunday), so I got to have half an hour extra cuddles with Gunslinger.
And we figured out exactly how much lumber we need to build him a portable darkroom to keep in my closet, and it worked out to cost about half as much as we expected!
I had a girl draped on each shoulder in the pub, and N. said “Look! Shade’s got a harem too!” and E. (norious for being the sexy albeit sociopathy one) leant over and shook my hand saying “Welcome to the club.” and everyone laughed.
One of my lectures would accept me as a PhD student if I get the appropriate grade this year.
My mom sent me a little note inside a beautiful art naïf card - I have a couple of these now, I should frame them! That made me smile!
Also, it’s official: I am graduating. My application to graduation was accepted, and the convocation ceremony information was sent out to me. I didn’t really doubt it (as a transfer student, I spent a LOT of time talking to the program councillor and making SURE I was finishing) but it is still really cool to see it in writing.
Now if I can only get that job I applied to, everything will be perfect!
Well, I emailed Golden Earring yesterday about getting a ticket for a show in May. I could not read any of the sites since they were all in Dutch, to find out when the tickets would go on sale. They told me one would be waiting for me at the door!
After getting a new bowling ball Wednesday, last night I rolled my first AND second over-200 league sanctioned games. Averaged 191 for the night.
Today a user told me I was the only one on the help desk that actually provides help. (yet I’m still not paid as much as the idiot that sits across from me)
The fact that my children woke up in a fairly good morning is always a good sign. I also took the time to send out a long e-mail to an old friend I haven’t talked to in a while. I will be looking forward to his reply. I’m going out with friends tonight so it should be a great ending for a good day.
Here’s what made yesterday good: I had been checking my bank account balance online for several days, hoping to see my spring semester stipend successfully direct deposited, after seeing the money disappear from my student account at the bursar’s office last Friday. Yesterday, the first day of the Chinese New Year (year of the monkey), I finally saw that the transaction had been posted. For this monkey, at least, a better gift of Ang Bao could hardly be imagined.
