Poll: What percentage of this board has smoked pot... ever

I’ve smoked it.

I think this poll is going to self-select people who have smoked pot, and give an artificially inflated number as a result.

I can’t remember if I already answered in this thread, and I’m too lazy to go back looking through it, but yes.

Never

[Beavis & Butthead] hehhehHEHheh HEHhehheh hehhehHEHheh[/B&B]

Sure.

Yup, but not recently.

Nope.

Would have on a couple of occasions had I been able put my paws to some.

I lived exclusively in Humboldt County, California from the ages of 3 to 23. All of my immediate family still lives there, near the small Southern Humboldt hamlet of Honeydew where I was raised, in the heart of the Emerald Triangle.

So, no. I know naught of this “pot” you speak of…

1983-84, sporadically availed myself of both weed and hash. Between the fact that it involved smoking* (coughchoughcoughcoughhackwheezecoughcough*) * and that the payoff was, well, less than impressive (I could induce a state of “finding stupid shit funny” at a much lower cost by a combination of legal toxins, sleep deprivation, and my regular clique of friends) I figured there was no point to it.

Personally, never, but I’ve been around when it’s been smoked.

I just don’t like the idea of inhaling ANY smoke.

Long-term studies do, after all, provide the most reliable results.

With that in mind, I can say I’ve experimented as well.

I have only a couple of times, but usually too drunk to notice if it had any effect.

Yup. If they’d legalize it, I’d never drink again. For me, weed high >>> drunk.

I have smoked pot ever. Fewer than five times, and the last time was at least twenty-four years ago.

I understand your anger. -But still this gave me quite a chuckle.

(the you beating the shit out of him part.)
For me, smoking pot was a paradigm in my teens and early 20’s.

I can remember the day I decided to quit.

I was at a buddies house stoned off my ass when two young ladies droped by to hang out. Because I was so stoned, I was too shy to even utter a word to these ladies. I remember feeling VERY self conscious, which isn’t at all my style.

I never wanted to feel that way again, so I quit.

Yes, many times. A hit or two of good shit is all I need, I would never even think of smoking a joint. I want to get a vaporizer to further save my lungs.

Marijuana is a strong drug! It can definately result in psychedelic states. The more I smoke, though, the less likely it seems to be able to cause strong effects. I mean, I still get really stoned, but I no longer get “fucked up”. I can drive stoned perfectly well, do homework, pretty much anything normal for that matter. If I put in eyedrops nobody can even tell I’m under the influence.

Its an interesting state. Even after all these years it still hard for me to pinpoint what exactly it does to the thought processes. Its nothing like alcohol, thats for sure. It makes one more introverted, less social, more self-conscious. It’s a joke that being stoned lets you understand “deep” stuff but I believe to a degree thats actually true. It can help you understand deeper meanings to various concepts.

Being stoned definately isn’t uninhibiting. If anything it’s actually inhibiting. I hate when people compare pot to alcohol.

Never.

I have serious, but unpredictable, allergies to a goodly number of drugs - some of which are chemically very similar to compounds found in the weed. Not worth the risk of anaphylaxis and/or autoimmune response. I find it’s best just to be very, very careful what I put in my body.

Plus, I find the smell makes me nauseated. Nothing kills a buzz faster than the overwhelming urge to vomit!

Back in the early 70s I smoked pot and hash a few times, but then began to have horrible reactions to it - like a bad acid trip. Really frightening and overpowering. This was using the cheap, mexican $10/oz stuff that we had then. It was very uncool of me to not smoke when all my friends did, but I couldn’t. I tried it a couple more times over the years, all with terrible results. I don’t mind having my mood adjusted, just don’t like my mind messed with I guess. The stuff nowadays is waaaay too strong for anyone’s good, but to each her own.

Yes, lots. Went to Art College.

What were we just talking about?

I am amazed how much people openly smoke out here. I’ve been in outdoor, public places where there was so much smoke, you could smell it from a block away. I tried it twice, but I was never a fan of smoking and it didn’t do anything other than burn my lungs horribly.
