Just curious. I work at a large Atlanta-based beverage company, and they gave us the day off. How common is this?
I work for the gov’t - so , no I don’t have the day off. It is really slow here, tho, and the parking lot was sparsely populated when I arrived - I expect lots of folks took leave.
Hubby’s company gave them the day, and the schools here are out today and Monday.
I wasn’t given the day off, but I’m taking it nonetheless.
Well, I’m going to try to take it. Maybe if I take my phone off the hook and close ICQ…
Well, I don’t have to teach today, but goodness knows there are plenty of other things I need to catch up on.
Well, I’d rather be at work, since Mrs. Rastahomie is making me clean the house on my day off. But my company is shut down today.
I’m working, in theory. But most of my office is empty, It’ll be just me and student workers after noon. Can’t say I’m real motivated.
I’m at IBM. We have Monday off. Go figure.
Of course in Canada today is a holiday…d and r…and my boss gave me Monday off too…woo hoo!!!
Gee, what could that company be .
I’m here, but that’s about it. Everyone else is gone, and the phone’s not even ringing. I’ve played a bunch of Freecell, surfed the Net, and ate a pint of frozen yoghurt and a box of biscotti.
I work at a big financial services firm and we’re off because the markets are closed. So I came home to RI for Easter. Not for the holiday so much as for the food… my father’s a great cook.
That post looked pretty stupid after I read it. The stock market is closed today, thus, no work.
And as a Canuck, I have today and Monday off too, which is why my post count is going up by leaps and bounds today.
/hijack/
I feel so geekly! My home network is up and running and I have DSL! Tremble all!!! [sub]or maybe not…[/sub]
I should do something useful and see if there’s anything in GQ I can answer.
/end hijack/
Tennessee State Government gives it’s employees Good Friday off.
So, I’m free.
Whadda ya wanna do?
I have the day off. I work at a social service agency. Aside from the major holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, etc.) they claim that we all “vote” on the rest of the company holidays. However, I have never seen this so-called ballot, and we have just as many Jewish workers as Catholics. Funny how we always end up with Good Friday off and never Yom Kippur or something.
(Yes, I know nobody asked for an explanation, but there you have it :)).
I believe I may have interviewed with that company last year when I was looking for a job. Unless of course there is another major beverage company based here.
I work at a clothing manufacturer, and we did not have the day off. I did, however, get to leave early so that I could go to church services, which were quite lovely, thank you.
I not only worked today (Friday) but I’m also working tomorrow. And tomorrow is voluntary. I’m a chump, I know but I need the money.
F Giddy-Pig.
I had the day off today and spent it driving the family up to the in-laws. I am currently enjoying the rare opportunity to post during non-work hours thanks to their loverly home PC (something I sadly lack).
I’m working Good Friday, but I got Easter off. The store will still be open, but my assistant manager took the closing shift that I’m usually stuck with on sundays. Whee…family time. Can I work anyways?
Not to rub it in or anything, but here in the UK Good Friday and Easter Monday are both public holidays this year …
