Poll: Will the U.S. have a draft in the near future?

Yes.

woops. wrong forum.

a simple yes or no, btw. i’ve seen the debate a million times.

No.

No.

Yes, for lack of choice, & disastrously poor judgement.

No.

Define “near future”.

Yes.

No. The idea wouldn’t be politically sellable.

no

A volunteer army is still the best fighting force. A forced draft in the USA is not only unlikely, but impractical for at least a couple of more generations. (Massive unusual circumstances withstanding)

Of course not.

Polls belong in IMHO, not GQ.

Yes. Of course, it’s politically sellable–just call critics unpatriotic. After Abu Ghraib and the revelations of the arrant fraud committed by Bushco, I don’t think that there is anything Bush can do that the American people wouldn’t swallow, including herding Muslims into concentration camps as the US did to the Japanese Americans in WWII.

No.

No.

No.

Of course.

Oops, that one won’t work. Try this one instead.

Yes.

Mr. Bush and Mr. Rumsfeld are itching to start the next war, but they don’t have enough cannon fodder to do this one right.

No. The “backdoor draft” will continue, but we’ll cut and run if Iraq turns from “quagmire” to “undeniable catastrophe”. Starting the draft would cut off the Republicans at the knees for the next decade.

I agree with this 100%. For the administration, leaving Iraq in bloody civil war would be better than reinstating the draft. Besides, the talking heads could immediately start blaming the outcome on the ungrateful Iraqis and then magically none of it would be our fault.
