Poll: Would you ever have Plastic Surgery?

For reconstructive surgery, sure. For more ordinary cosmetics probably not, I just don’t care enough about how I look. As long as people don’t stare at me I’m fine. I wouldn’t want huge facial scars or such, but minor imperfections I’m indifferent to.

At least 52.73% of respondents don’t understand Multiple Choice Polls.

Now that you mention it, I have had some chin warts lasered off in the past decade, including last month. It did not occur to me to count that.

That’s my answer, too. I don’t see getting any plastic surgery to try to make myself look younger or anything like that. I suppose if someone has a really good facelift done I wouldn’t notice it, but too often you see people who look like old people trying to look wrinkle-free, and that looks worse than wrinkles to me.

Can’t wait for the day I can have a breast reduction, but I don’t think I’d ever get anything done to my face. I am blessed with exceedingly normal features, and the idea of aging doesn’t bother me. I would probably go for reconstructive surgery if needed, like if I got into an accident or whatever.

After having completed some rigorous lovemaking, one of my exes once told me, “There’s nothing wrong with you that isn’t correctable.”

I don’t think cosmetic surgery is a big deal. Lots of people say they wouldn’t undergo cosmetic procedures, but with so many Americans obsessed with the appearance of their smiles and doing something about it, did orthodontistry and cosmetic dentistry suddenly not count or something?

I have friends who have gotten nose jobs or Asian blepharoplasty/epicanthoplasty. These procedures are probably among the most common in east Asia. The plastic surgeon I go to in Taiwain to get my moles removed also happens to be famous in the country for his nose and eye work. Funny, eh. On another tangent, I also have one too many Korean American friends who have taken “vacations” in South Korea only to come back with completely looking features. Damn, subtlety does not seem to underly the philosophy of Korean plastic surgery procedures.

I had some dermabrasion when I was 11 to help with some extensive scarring on my forehead due to a car accident . The scars are still visible, but far less noticeable.
I have no problem with it for reconstruction or any other reason, but don’t have any desire for more work.

can’t imagine having it for vanity reasons. I LIKE my wrinkles, various small and minor scars and imperfections that life has bestowed on me. I EARNED this face and body dammit, by surviving my misspent youth!like hell if i’m giving it up unless i’ve really gone and done it and horribly disfigured myself somehow.
might keep a cool looking facial scar though, maybe

Gosh have I changed.

“Cosmetic surgery! Gross! Vanity!” I would have shouted at you 15 years ago.

Like guestchaz I am fine with my wrinkles, but I am developing potential bags under my eyes. I can see them growing daily, albeit almost imperceptibly. I hate them and I hate what I suspect they will become. If I had the money I would definitely pay to have something done about them (not sure if blepharoplasty is a permanent solution though).

Once I hold my goal weight for a couple of years, I will have my excess skin removed from my abdomen and thighs, and have my boobs lifted (not made bigger) and probably have my arms done, too.

I’ve managed to lose the weight, why not go all the way?

I’m happy with my face, though.

When my mom had hers removed the doc said there was no guarantee they wouldn’t reform with more age, but hey, even if they do, that would still be less than if you hadn’t had them removed in the first place. There’s probably some variation with individuals, so you’d need to consult a doc about your particulars. After thirty additional years mom had small bagginess under the eyes again, but by that time she didn’t care about that any more, she had far worse problems to deal with.

Had it. Would do it again. My feeling is that if something is bothering you, no am’t of rationalizing in your mind might change the way you feel. Know the risks, and understand that any pain/suffering is voluntary.

Wife had some work, too.

Both minor procedures. Both happy.

Of course if I had an accident that changed my physical appearance (including getting my nose broken) I would want reconstructive/corrective surgery which would restore me to a normal appearance, as close as possible to my original one.

And I can imagine deciding to have certain cosmetic procedures to improve my appearance. I would never in any circumstances have something like breast implants, lipo, or a facelift. But I will probably get sclerotherapy on my legs some day (bad spider veins run in my family), and there are other more ‘restorative’ procedures I might consider (breast lift, tummy tuck), depending on how having babies effects my body. If I could afford to change those areas of my body that had changed over time in a way I didn’t like, I think I would.

+1

I have several body issues/scars that could be done and probably should be done. But in a scarce resource reality, 100% of everything else has always taken precedence. Lets face it, it took a cancer scare for me to actually get moles removed. Spend money on body corrections on my income?
Not likely. Granted, if I hit the Power-Ball and money were no object, sure. Nobody wants to go through life uglier or more misshapen than they have to be.

I’m having a tummy tuck this next Wednesday, after losing (and keeping off) 90 lbs over the last three years.

Yes. And you don’t know because it’s good.

Examples are Jane Fonda and Bette Midler.

I’ve never had any, and I probably won’t, not for just normal aging or to get a flatter stomach or whatever. But…I’d never say never.

When my eyelids get so flabby that I can’t get my contacts in–yes. And my insurance will pay for it!

However, it’s beginning to look like that won’t happen before I have cataract surgery, and after that supposedly I won’t need contacts (or be able to wear them? I’d better check this out).

I’d like to have my boobs lifted and re-sized. I mean sized so that they’re both the same size, which I assume means taking the size down on one.

I also wouldn’t mind liposuction but I don’t think I’m a candidate.

I’ve had surgery done on both armpits to remove sweat glands, 14 years apart. It wasn’t cosmetic but the second surgery was done by a cosmetic surgeon. I like the guy as a doctor and now I feel like I want to go see him for something cosmetic!
