POLLitical spellings

Are getting impenetrable. LIEberals, AmeriKKKa - I get them. But what’s “AMerica” all about? I can’t even Google that one. Why do you keep using “negro” and spelling it with an “e” at the end? Just freaking make your point with real words.

The Lieberal Dummycrats are gonna get pwned in the next elecshun, dood!!

A typo perhaps? Do you have an example of someone doing this (typing America with a capital M in addition to a capital A)?

Negroe?

No, silly, this guy.

I think those folksy family restaurants with the faux Ye Olde Englishe signs are getting a little out of hand.

When come back, bring cites.

Seriously, though – your topic has me very curious, but I just don’t know what you’re referring to. I mean, since the plural of “negro” is “negroes,” I can only assume you ran across a typo or someone who spells poorly who left the “e” in on the singular. I am completely puzzled by the “AMerica” bit, though.

Is that proper? The two examples I used are from specific posters on specific boards. But political spellings is an overall epidemic that I was guessing would be familiar to board-hoppers.

That’s possible but “negro” is an archaic term, so I assumed its spelling (which is consistent, along with AMerica) along with is usage was to some particular effect.

Poor attempt at humor. I didn’t expect a genuine cite – I just haven’t run across any examples of what you’re referring to. I was hoping to have you fight my own ignorance.

Again, I can’t respond to it simply because I haven’t seen it used. Can you provide any context, perhaps?

Odd spellings, even if intentional, are the standbys of the illiterate. Those kids who always sat in the back of the class, ducking and bobbing their heads to avoid being seen and called on.

Must’ve made them look like pigeons.

I read this as “bring cities,” and immediately started thinking of “Filth-adelphia,” “Nig-cago,” “Jew York City”…

Amazing how those leapt right into your mind, isn’t it?

Okay…going back over the work of the posters I referred to…it does seem possible - probably actually - that both examples were habitual typos. They happen often, but not always. So…I’ll just tiptoe sheepishly out of this thread…

I’ll agree with Asmovian on this one; they are just taking off the s. No effect intended, except possibly as a demonstration of dumbness.

Jew York City!?!?!

Is this Dan Quayle’s spelling?

Get the rope.

ask Jesse

The extra ‘e’ in negro(e) could also very easily come from that fact that so many people are such fantastically shitty spellers that they shouldn’t be allowed to type.

People with poor language skills have a habit of rhyming when speaking because it “sounds righter” - or so I’ve seen suggested. I think it’s the same idea on his one, except in this case it’s the idea that “the more letters in it, the more likely it is I’m spelling it right”.

I’ve found so many interesting spellings of the word “amateur” on the internet that I think I could produce a fricking [some kinda book I can’t think of the name of].

Oh, and “Nichole Kidman”.
