Poor Audio after Screen Capture - is it a soundcard issue?

I have a Dell XPS Desktop. (No special sound cards or interfaces, just the system audio that came with the PC.)

I tried to do a Screen Capture using a program called Movavi Screen Capture, using standard audio settings (44.1/16), and my problem is the recorded audio is too harsh and “boomy.” This becomes apparent even before I save the recording to any final format, even when playing back in the program.

Is it a sound card issue, i.e., I need to get an audio interface or professional card, or is it something else? Thank you

When I get problems like that using Audacity for audio capture, it’s usually a setting within the software. Assuming you’re using Windows, does Movavi offer options like MME/Windows WASAPI/Windows Direct Sound? You might also need to go into the Windows Control Panel>Sound>Recording and right-click on the central panel to see disabled and disconnected devices, and make sure Stereo Mix is enabled.
