Poor Kitteh

I think I put back his training to take prey to the bath tub to dismember it - I didn’t look inside the tub when I reached in and turned on the shower :frowning: Next thing I know there is a little grey and tan whirlwind of wet fur and claws scrambling for the door. Apparently he was snoozing under my plastic shower seat.:frowning:

Ok, I can’t be the only one here who is fascinated by the vision of Aruvqan patiently training little gray and tan kitty to dismember prey in the bathtub…

Poor kitty!

Now, I dunno 'bout dismembering prey----
But I have fond, squee-full memories of a kitten in the bathtub attacking…(drum roll, please…)
an ICE CUBE.

I thought we were gonna see a cute pic of a pathetic soaked kitteh!

Well, just so you don’t feel deprived, here’s one of my guys.

He’d been sick that week, and couldn’t clean himself properly, so it was Bath Time:

How much blood did you lose?

When she was a kitten, one of ours used to love a ping-pong ball in the bathtub. Kind of noisy, but great fun to watch.

Actually, not much. He’s the gentle one of the two. I shudder to think of what will happen if I ever have to give a bath to his brother, though*.

*I named him “Sharpe” for a reason!

I read a technique for washing a cat without being scratched in the process. Keep in mind the cat will not forget what you did and this is probably best done to someone else’s cat who is moving far away soon.

  1. Get a sturdy window screen. Should be metal. Plastic won’t cut it for this.
  2. Draw a warm tub of water and place the screen in the tub.
  3. Place cat in tub directly on the screen.
  4. The cat will reflexively flex its claws and will therefore adhere to the screen.
  5. Quickly take advantage of the temporary immobility by washing said cat.
  6. Drain water from tub and leave the bathroom.
  7. Leave the bathroom door open unless you need your wallpaper to be stripped.

Y’all let me know if this works.

Old habit around the house - it started inadvertantly with a previous cat that I got tired of that little crunchsquish in the middle of the night so I started picking him up and dropping him in the tub when I found him with a mouse until he just started catching mice and I would find that little purplegreenish bit and leftovers in the bath tub in the morning. Since it kept the mess contained where I wouldn’t step on it while half asleep, I have kept training my cats to take the mice or whatever to the bath tub. It seems our outside cat population is thriving and fewer and fewer mice are finding their way to the house, Five has only managed to catch about 3 mice in about 6 months. So his jingle balls live in the bath tub, and he goes nuts playing with them in the wee hours of the morning.

Make that **two **kittens in a bathtub with a ping pong ball. Hilarious.
