Pop Music

Uh yeah. And how many of them are really remembered, even in a nostalgic sense? A few, a small percentage. I like the “one hit wonders” as much as the next person (well, not really, just once in a while does one strike my fancy) but I don’t delude myself into thinking that the majority of them will be around for the long haul. Not everyone can be the Beatles, you know.

…and rock music… more like cock music 'cause it can totally suck mine… and showtunes… they should just call them blowtunes… and celtic traditional… why not… umm… smell-tic… derisible… 'cause it totally smells…

kplmonkeypants:

I’ve heard of most of them. And my friend happens to know the lead singer of From Autumn To Ashes, who happens to love all genres of music, and probably wouldn’t consider it cool to single one out just because it’s “mainstream” or “always on the radio”.

And as an aside, why would you stop listening to a band you loved just because it became mainstream? Are you really that concerned with your “hardcore punk” image? Since when does going mainstream make a band a sell-out? It just means more people have found out about them and are enjoying their music. Anyone who stops liking a band due to this and calls anyone who gets into it late in the game a poser is a Grade A cockmeat fool.

P.S. Anyone who only starts liking a band because it’s de rigeur to do so at the moment is also a fool.

I’ve heard of most of them too, just for the record. Lest anyone misinterpret my earlier comment, I wasn’t trying to start a “more hardcore than thou” type thing. There’s nothing wrong with liking mainstream bands; I just thought it ironic that someone insulting pop music would have a quote from a band that most peope consider a pop band in their signature.

Amen! No matter how many times people say this, it always needs to be said a few more.

Given an infinite amount of time, every single band will sell out.

Lord Ashtar:

This is generally true, but a popular band does not necessarily equal a sellout band.

I never said I stopped liking dashboard confessional I just found it completely retarded how they started liking them as soon as they were on the radio…

peace out,

A Christian Marylin Manson Ripoff.

What is the world coming to? I mean, if Marylin Manson thinks it’s the antichrist, why would there be a Christian version?

And more importantly, why would one choose to emulate someone who would be the fisherman’s friend spokesman if his voice wasn’t so FRIGGIN GODAWFUL!?

In my book, there is no such thing as a “sellout musician”. Any person who has put the countless hours into learning how to hone his craft deserves to do anything he damn well pleases with it.

bjohn13: you’ve never heard of moby, then?
