I couldn’t find anything through search, but It’s probably because I have WEBTV and I’m computer illiterate, but I would like to know what doctors;lawyers, or anyone would know about this amazing turn of events, which evidently is no hoax.
Don’t have time to research it, but Lee Mingwei is also the name of a fairly well known conceptual/installation artist. Me thinks this might be- if not a hoax- then an “art project” of some sort…
Here you go, ageless6. This website of Urban Legends talks a little bit about the website (and the people who created it). It has a link towards the bottom to a page talking about ectopic pregnancy.
Indeed, they are good spoofs. Good to the point of being legally doubtful, since they falsely attribute the copyright of the article to AOL-Time Warner, and use material that belongs to AOL-Time Warner for their own (however artistic) purposes.
Your skepticism should be raised by the lengths they go to to conceal the true source of what you are looking at, including javascript which:[ul][li]Puts a (redundant) clock in your status bar, so you can’t tell where links lead by placing your cursor over them.[*]Opens links in a new window, in which the address bar has been removed, so you can’t see where it actually is.[/ul][/li]
A closer examination of the CNN article shows that it is, in fact, hosted at malepregnancy.com, although most of the links will take you seamlessly to the genuine CNN.com.
I must admit, I love their sense of humour, actually including the phrase “Americans are so gullible” in the body of the article.
As for theTime cover, you didn’t notice that it was lacking a number of things that you would expect to find? Like the date, or a UPC code, or a price, or a reference to any other article within the pages of the magazine?
It should be clear even to a layman that an ectopic pregnancy would under no circumstances be deliberately induced, and could not possibly be brought to term.

Maybe 20 years ago I remember an article in OMNI magazine about human male pregnancy. My not-so-strong recollection is that the article described a similar process as in the hoax page. I wonder if they were inspired by that article?
Plus, that page has been up for about a year and a half. Should’ve been done with it by now! (If he’s in the 18th month of pregnancy, my hat is off to the guy. )
