I love this – even most of the people who believe in the prophecies of St. Malachi are skeptical about this, but some hard-core believers think we’ve entered The End of Days:

Well, I had a good run. At least I won’t need to worry about paying off a mortgage, right?
What with the Mayan calender and St. Malachy’s prophecy both running out at about the same time, looks like it’s all over for the human race. Been nice knowing you, guys.
What if I leave the planet before the Big Day? Do I get to watch the fireworks?
Now there’s an idea. If only I could figure out how to hitch a ride …
Of course, they always think that and historically have for ages. You’re talking about people who can, and do, believe anything.
Use your Thumb. And don’t forget your towel.
Fuklfills? Is that intentional?
Best typo in a thread title evar.
Dude, we have an End of Days like, every three weeks.
Most amusing was the one in high school, when someone bet me five bucks that the world would end…

Well, that’s about as authoritative as it gets.
Note: The prophecy lists this pope as second to last. “Peter the Roman” will be the last. But given the age of the new “Pope Vader”, it might not be long until … the prophecy thing is completely disproved once and for all.
Damn! It’s the end of everything and I just renewed my SDMB subscription.
Of course! :smack: That’s what I get for panicking.
Sorry, what 's going on? I’ve got my peril-sensitive sunglasses on, and I can’t quite make out what this thread is about.
I think it’s high time we start making reservations at The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
When conclave had just started, an irish news segment on RETE did a piece on Father Malachy, and there were 4 names that could have been associated with Olives. I cant remember what the links were, although I do remember one of the cardinals family ran an olive farm or something…
There was a fifth name thrown around as well becuase that mans name sounded a lot like Martini, and we all knwo that Martini’s are drank with olives… but considering the world is going to end anyway, none of this matters.
That would be RTE, not RETE… :smack:
Dammit! I just renewed my membership.
Does this mean I can let the Visa card bill go unattended?
