Does anyone know the significance and/or history of the trapezoidal coffin the pope was buried in? I found a couple of references to trapezoidal coffin lids in Franciscan friaries in Ireland, but I know nothing else beyond that. Are they traditional? Is that shape predominantly Italian or Polish?
