Yeah, I thought this might get your attention. Don’t get me wrong, this IS about porn, but not in the context that you are thinking, lol. Anyhow, here is my problem…
…on my screen, porn pops up without my telling it to. Not only porn, but also box’s asking if I want to save, open, etc… as if I have choosen to download something. This usually only happens when I first start my browser. I can’t explain this, and I’m hoping that you can. Could it be someone hacked me somehow? I just need to make the porn go away, as it’s driving me CRAZY!
It seems like you have a spyware/adware program running on your PC. It probably came without your knowledge or consent when you visited a certain page, possibly even just by accident. Especially since you said it usually only happens when you open your browser makes me think this.
Go to http://www.lavasoftusa.com and click on the link to download “AdAware.” It is freeware, and does wonders for remocing spyware and adware. When you first run it, just tell it to scan everything, registry, memory, hard drive, EVERYTHING. You will probably get a long list of programs you never knew you had…especially if you use almost any file-sharin g program (I know for a fact that both iMesh and KaZaA have ad-ware, but not spyware.) Then just check all the things on the list and click remove.
Spyware is usually the more shady of the two, being that it actually looks at stuff on your PC and may even transmit stuff back to some place, wheras adware just sends you pop-ups.
Anywaysm just do as I suggested and all will be fine.
(note: if you do have any file-sharing programs, they might not work after you run ad-aware. Just re-download them after using ad-aware. I can say with 90% certinty that they aren’t responsible for the porn, as they stick with family-friendly ads.)
Maybe your browser’s ‘home page’ got set to a porn site (yeah, they can do that without you knowing), especially since it happens when you start the browser.
If you are using IE, go to “Tools”, “Internet Options”, “home page” and click “set to blank”.
