I’m always hearing about how employees with Internet access spend the better part of their day browsing porn sites. The same with college students in their computer labs. But why do it? They’re only teasing themselves. I mean, here they are, with these raging hard-ons, and they can’t even do anything about it. It’s not like they can just whip it out and start beating it right there.
It’s not worth the risk. Colleges can ban your student account. Your employer can even fire you. So why do it? Okay, sure, I realize that you can save the images onto a floppy or a zip for later home use, but by that time, your urge would most likely be quelled.
And how many porn sites are there where you can actually download an image? First, you must wade through all the banners that lead to more sites with banners. Then you have to fight the javascript windows that keep popping up. It just seems like too much of a hassle at the risk of being banned or fired.

whats with everyone here? vandal asked a question and everybody automatically jumps on the assume-the-poster-is-the-one-who-does-what-his-question-asks wagon (wow, 11 hyphens, im setting a new personal record). apparently this is an all-too typical response in an overly politically correct society where if you say even the slightest non-feminine-supporting comment, you are automatically labeled as wrong.
oh yeah, about the porn sites, i work at a college campus computer lab that is available to all the currently enrolled students. everyday there is at least one person or so (out of 120 computers) who views adult sites. im sure he does not intend to masturbate in front of everybody. im convinced a lot of the people who view the adult sites on campus just plainly cannot help themselves. it is sort of like an addiction for them, to view the sites with the knowledge that they can lose their computer privileges or even face judicial review.
The one that comes off the top of my head is titulation. A very cheap thrill. Or just sexual appreciation, “Wow look at that ass” kinda thing. Of course it could all be wank material for next time they’re alone. Its amazing how turned on you can get just by imagining a sexy photo.
I think a lot of it has to do with boredom and typical male behavoir. Its like having a copy of Playboy laying around your apartment, a friend might pick it up and look at it and not pull his shlong out. Think how much more bored you are at work and how much more porn that computer has than your collection of Playboy.

I’m asking a simple question, which I have stated in the first line in the OP. No one has been able to give me a straight answer to it so far, except kasuo and HorseloverFat. Why? Just because the question relates to porn and masturbation, it has to be the automatic assumption that I’m not serious? Or that it’s troll like? Fuck all that.
It’s okay for someone to post a question in GD about the ramifications of masturbation among celibate priests. But wait, that person is a “reg” and has over 1000 posts, so it’s alright. Now here comes me, asking another question about masturbation, and everyone jumps all over me assuming that I’m not serious (besides the aforementioned).

Probably for the same reason people go to see erotic movies in cinemas (note: I am not talking about XXX’s at the local pornhouse) even though most of them don’t plan to wank off there. Probably for the same reason men enjoy watching women in bikinis on the beach. Just because you can’t act on your sexual excitement doesn’t make it unpleasurable.

Vandal: honestly, what are you doing with an internet connection if you don’t know how to avoid the porn sites that kill you with banners and never get you any porn? There are dozens of sites out there that will give you an unlimited amount of whatever floats your boat (so long as that doesn’t mean, say, tree-screwing – that you’ll have to pay for) for free without a single new window popping up. It’s not that tough, you just have to figure out what to look for when you go searching on Yahoo.
And, by the by, I would add that many people are compulsive masturbators and, though they won’t partake in their favorite hobby in the open, they have no problem making a trip to the library bathroom. Next time you go into one of thos stalls, remember where it’s been. (I avoid the whole problem by not goin to the library in the first place).
