Huh? Rape fantasy? Maybe on some level it leads to that, but all he described was a demonstration of dominance and submission. Two strong sexual dynamics for nearly everybody on some level. Yes? No?
There’s a real good Freudian slip in there.

From that wiki:
 For reals?

Johnny, you pitted the guy?
I didn’t even know I liked some stuff until the internet came along and opened my eyes to new things. I imagine that’s a common theme.
See The Notorious Bettie Pagefor a good idea how fetish material was created and traded in the underground scene of the 50s.
The one I don’t get is paedofilia. How did paedofiles get together before the internet? How would you tell that someone else might be into it, and inquire without being reported and arrested? I can’t imagine lots of people would put their neck out like that.
Hell, I don’t understand how they do it on the internet now, with all the monitoring and trap sites and people pretending to be kids. The risk just doesn’t seem worth it.
I actually watched (and own) that movie. A lot of the things they were asked to pose in seemed more or less unthreatening and even a little cute by our standards. (Impressed that they actually had pony play at the time!)
The movie didn’t show anything that seemed too out there, but were there things like water sports and the like being created and traded as well, or was it mostly what we saw in the movie?
Like panache45, I couldn’t find what I wanted before the Internet, mainly because when you’re 14-15 years old they don’t let you in the porn shops I wasn’t looking for gay porn, though; I was interested in spanking and BDSM. The 30-something guys at the local convenience store always looked the other way when I’d come in and sneak peeks at the men’s magazines (which were kept on the shelf with the rest of the mags in those days), and I discovered the kinky letters in Penthouse Variations magazine. And that inspired me: I got what I wanted by writing stories about it (I can’t draw). I wrote stories for years and years. Nowadays, not so much, since I can find photos and videos on the 'Net. One thing the 'Net has done for me, though, is that when I do write a story it’s more realistic. Some of my early stories were just ridiculous, looking back.
Before the Internet, I was mezmerized by the the movie *Mannequin: On the Move * (from the IMDb website - just look at the front cover). As the title suggests a mannequin comes alive, and the story turns into a real adventure. It was a fairy tale. A fantasy. A lot of guy dream about a women coming to life. For me, it’s surreal. Because I look at a women and I notice the form of her face. Not the facial expression per se, but the idea of an expression coming to life.
Ever hear the expression doll face. It startles me to see facial expression because I don’t expect facial movement. My idea of a perfect date would be to sit a cafe, a mall promenade and just sit and admire at my date.
Also it doesn’t hurt that there are alot of mannequins in the mall. Platonic love. It’s not so much the sex. But the idea of beauty and life.
When you like seeing women in classy leather (longer skirts, jackets, etc), porno mags don’t do squat for you. If a gal is wearing an ankle length leather skirt in a porno mag, it’ll be gone by picture 2. So I couldn’t really get my fix from porno mags anyhow.
Catalogs were awesome. Sears, Danier, The Leather Ranch… they never let me down. They showcased what I wanted to see because they were trying to sell it!
Of course, now with the internet, there are dedicated sites for leather fetish and leather models and leather videos, etc. But I bet those catalogs still have some good stuff in them.
That was about it; I was born in 1940 in Texas, for God’s sake. There were no smut shops; women’s breasts were “dirty” and not for display; all women were pure and existed to serve their husbands. There were sluts of course; any woman who had sex outside of marriage was either a slut or had been ruined by a cad; no decent man would seduce a maiden. We were Sexually Repressed Southern Baptists and proud of it: I cringe at the memory of what we were.
Thank you!
Too bad you didn’t take out a few patents on them!
Pre-internet there were special magazines. Men’s adventure magazines, dective magazines, and others. The stuff you would find in these things would cover bondage, rape, knockout and other strange stuff that probably means the human race should have been eliminated by serial killers by now.
Yes, I am aware of Marston’s eccentricities. He was quite a character!
He played a major role in the development of the polygraph, as well.
