We are leaving for Vancouver on the 16th of September and taking the bc ferries cruise to Prince Rupert out of Port Hardy.
On the way back, we would like to take the coast of the mainland from Powell River. Greyhound goes that way but sightseeing will be minimal and we would like to see Schookumchuck Narrows in Sechelt.
Anyone know any other way to go? Anyone going that way and want company?
We’ve already checked car rentals and they have a $550.00 one way drop charge.
So, just to clarify, your intended route is Vancouver - Vancouver Island (Nanaimo?) - Port Hardy - Prince Rupert - Port Hardy - Comox - Powell River - Sechelt - Horseshoe Bay - Vancouver?
Something like that?
Well, that’s what we’re trying to do. Having trouble figuring out how to get down the coast of the mainland though. We can get a bus from Port Hardy to Comox but once we take the ferry to Powell River, we’re done. We’re trying to see if Greyhound will do a connection perhaps in Sechelt.
Malaspina Coach Lines runs a daily bus service between Powell River and Vancouver hitting Sechelt along the way. It’s a daily service and I’d imagine that you’d be able to break up the journey over a time period as you saw fit.
Thank you. That has the perfect schedule if we can get off and on.
Savary Island looks very cool as well. Wonder if they have day trips there? I’m checking that out too.
Too much to see, too little time.
You’re welcome. I’m not too familiar with the Sunshine Coast, so I can’t offer any other advice, unfortunately. Have a great trip!
