Portable CD Players... anybody using them?

You bet I still use it :frowning:

Commuting to work on light rail and the Bus, I’ve noticed a distinct correlation between the income of a person (or their parents) and the type of music playback machine they have. Without fail, the poor(*) seem to have $25 off-brand CD players.

  • = financially disadvantaged, Trustfund free, however you wish to say it. Some have more than others, and if they have ‘a little more’ then they seem to have MP3 players.

iPods are, in no way, the neato cool fashion statement they used to be. They’re all_over.

Still use mine - got it free with my Bose noise reduction headphones. I really should get an MP3 but they frighten me. I’m a Luddite at heart. And I don’t really have the time to put all my CDs on one. It’s easier for me just to grab the cd I want to listen to. My car has a 6 disc changer and that’s more than sufficient for me. Three or four cds on plane also is enough.

Yup, still got my Sony Discman, still playing Flock of Seagulls when I work out!

No, seriously, I do have a Discman, and I do use it all the time. I still have Windows 98 on my Gateway computer. It works … why change it? B’sides, those iPod thingys are freakin’ expensive! When they cost what my Discman cost new, well, maybe I’ll buy one.

Oh, and my cell phone has only one ringtone, no camera, and the only thing I can do with it is talk to other people on it. I have no earthly idea how to use any of the features on it, can’t even access messages, and have no intention of learning. It’s a phone, damnit – if you call and I don’t answer, you missed me. Try again later.

Yes. I use one. I don’t want to spend the money on a good mp3 player right now. And since my little old mp3 player quit on me, I don’t really want a cheapie mp3 replacement either. I’ll wait until I’m ready to budget for a good one.

Still got a fresh buggywhip? You can’t leave the stable without one!
