Portal: XBOX 360 vs. PC?

As a console single-player gamer, of course you’re playing single-player games. And multiplayer doesn’t need to be online, you know. Unless you’re really telling me the biggest thrill of Tekken is beating the computer.

This is a big hijack, so I’ll end it here. I’m just not sure why you so frequently post in Game Room threads with enormously uninformed opinions and act shocked whenever somebody points out when you’re wrong.

On the multi-player hijack, I really enjoy playing multi-player games over a LAN with people I know and can physically chat to at the time, but playing over the net with strangers leaves me cold.

Who says I’m wrong? You? Why are you right?

This hijack was about online multiplayer until you threw in local multiplayer at the last second. You’ll get no argument from me that fighting games are better against another person, but then, that wasn’t part of the original question.

Even if we’re discussing all multiplayer, let’s look at the bestselling games from last month:

  1. Fable II (Xbox 360) - 790,000 copies
  2. Wii Fit (Wii) - 487,000
  3. Fallout 3 (Xbox 360) - 375,000
  4. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - 290,000
  5. Wii Play (Wii) - 282,000
  6. Saints Row 2 (Xbox 360) - 270,000
  7. SOCOM Confrontation (PS3) - 231,000
  8. LittleBigPlanet (PS3) - 215,000
  9. NBA 2K9 (Xbox 360) - 202,000
  10. Dead Space (Xbox 360) - 193,000

One is based around online multiplayer and one more has a significant multiplayer component. The rest are either singleplayer or the multiplayer is a bonus and not the focus.

Yes, my wife just finished working on a contract developing the Canon for Halo for Microsoft it’s that important to them to maintain the continuity of the storyline. Such transmedia campaigns are modelled highly after Star Wars at this point. They want Halo to be the Star Wars of video games.

That’s really about what was released last month and not what people want. This months figures will have Call of Duty, Gears Of War 2 and Left 4 Dead which will alll be very big sellers.

Halo 3 while over a year old had 640,044 unique players online over the last 24hrs as per Bungie.net
