Portland:Oregon or Maine?

I live in the Chicago area and am in the “There’s a Portland, Maine?” camp. Oregon it is.

Reviving this zombie once again as I am now officially a Portland to Portland transplant. I just scored an apartment in Portland, OR after living in or near Portland, ME for most of my life.

Move in officially is July 22, but I’m here now.

Welcome to Cascadia!

I can’t wait to meet Fred Armisen.

Have you already put a bird on it?

Portland, Maine because it was home to Andy Dufresne.

I’ve been to Portland, Maine on the way up to Bar Harbor. Had a lobster roll there. Seemed obligatory. Nice little town.

I’ve driven past Portland, Oregon once going from Chehalis, Washington down to Eugene. It was the only spot on I-5 where there was traffic, which did not encourage me to go in and check it out.

I’ll go with Maine.

Same here, the only fact I knew about Oregon was it’s capital, Salem.

Oregon. I live in Minnesota.

Oregon. Been there quite a few times as I live in the Seattle area. Was near there a few weeks ago while on a trip to the Oregon Coast. And I will admit, I have driven to Portland on a couple occasions to make major purchases, did that to avoid sales taxes.

Portland OR is just so much larger, has major league teams, etc. Portland ME is just a blip. But …

At one point I had two relatives, siblings, that both lived in Portland. Thousands of miles apart.

Me too. 'Cause I can pump my own damn gas!

I lived in Portland, Maine, from a July thru that December and broke down on a snowed over Maine Turnpike and got towed to Massachusetts. Maine was said to have only three seasons, Winter, Spring, and Fourth of July!

Close. Winter, Spring & Construction

My daughter, who lives in Left Coast Portland recently vacationed in Zihuatanejo, just to bring this full circle.

Maine barely exists outside of Stephen King novels. So, Oregon.

Yes, but if you live in the Portland metro area, Vancouver means the place north of the Columbia. You need to specify BC if you want the johnny-come-lately further north.

OK, lets go with much more obscure locations. I’m not going to make it a real poll because I know the most common answer.

Coos County : Oregon, New Hampshire, or “where the hell are those?”

My parents used to live in Coos County, NH. I’m just all over this thread.

Portland, Oregon.

I’m in Ohio, and still would have said Oregon when I lived in NYC.

Portland, Oregon. That’s where all the Wesen live.

I’m in South Africa.
