I think the problem there though is that I have the same experience with Republicans in Georgia. They idolize Bush above anything remotely like reality and demonize anyone who is liberal, a Democrat or against Bush. I have many times, with many people had to defend myself against being called “anti-American,” “pro-terrorist,” etc. for disliking Bush. The fact that I dislike political party systems and am a confirmed radical moderate means nothing.
Eventually, a number of smaller samples starts adding up to a big sample. I respect thoughtful, rhetoric-free Republicans as well as similar Democrats. However, I find I can debate and question Democrat’s viewpoints much easier, and with more honest debate, than Republicans.
And some of us are not at all sure that we’re voting for Bush again. Four years of having Kerry as President may be less harmful than four more years of the current Administration…
Conservatives are voting for Bush *reluctantly * because they’re so irrationally loyal that his outrageous inadequacy (to put it mildly) for the job is so blatant and egregious that, where rational people are horrified, the Bush Babies can’t summon a reaction more extreme than reluctance.
Voting for a retarded war criminal *reluctantly * is still a vote for a retarded war criminal.
