Poseidon Adventure shown on the Titanic?

I was following some of the links for the Santa Claus/Coca Cola story and found this link that claims that a film called “The Poseidon Adventure” directed by D.W. Griffith was screened on the Titanic the night it sunk:

http://www.snopes2.com/lost/poseidon.htm

However,
http://www.imdb.com lists only one film called “The Poseidon Adventure”, the 1972 version.

Of the 77 (yes, 77!) films directed by DWG in 1911, none has a title that would seem to be about a sinking ship. I didn’t check all of them, but similar searches on imdb using keywords ship, sink in the period 1900-1915 yield no hits.

What gives?

LOL…it’s not true. It’s just a JOKE that Snopes has. Don’t feel bad-it’s actually very convincing. It’s from Lost Legends, right? I think what they do is make up their own Urban Legends there.

I also had my doubts that Mr. Ed was a Zebra, which reportedly have very nasty dispositions.

Should there be a link from SDMB to a site with bogus information like this?

You mean the site that says this at the top:

and this at the bottom:

I understand being confused at first, but when you see something so patently silly, don’t you think the rest of the site is worthy of perusal? Don’t you think you should check around for parody earmarks? Snopes is a great site with lots of accurate information. Don’t discount the whole site because they have a joke section.
