Possible spyware problem?

The next question…

I’m getting a popup while browsing these days, a system one, that says this:

"Macromedia Flash player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation. The following local application on your computer network:

h

Is trying to communicate with this internet-enabled location:

spe.atdmt.com

To let this application communicate with the internet, click ‘settings’."

I’ve run both AdAware and Spybot S&D, they find nothing. ANy idea what this might be, how to rectify it, and if I should / shouldn’t be worried?

Give ewido, AVG and Windows defender a crack at it.

See if this helps you at all.

Are you an AOL customer? It seems, in some cases at least, to be an AOL-related issue.

I wouldn’t worry. That’s a warning from Macromedia Flash. Evidently, there was something about a flash movie that was a potential security risk, so Flash warned you about it to prevent you from getting in trouble. It was probably something on a website (I’ve been seeing something similar lately at snopes.com) that’s either misconfitured or malcious. What you are seeing is Flash doing its job and warning about the danger. As long as you heeded the warning, you should be fine.

Ad-Aware wouldn’t find anything because Flash the flash program in on the web page, not your computer.
