Possible to get rid of Eye Floaters?

Eye floaters appear in your field of vision as little specs or cobwebs. When u try to look at them, they dart away…

From what I’ve been able to find, it’s not possible to get rid of them without surgery. They are more of an annoyance than anything else. Supposedly your brain is supposed to make them invisible after awhile, but that aint happenin for me.

If anyone has been plagued with eye floaters and discovered a solution, I’d love to hear it.

Thanks!

Some of us lucky people have lots of them. They must break up after a while, because every so often I get a new one. While there are several in there, the total doesn’t keep going up.

All you can do,when one is in the center of your vision, is to look aside and back to make it move.

I’m sure it’s possible to replace the fluid. I’ve heard of such surgery. I’m also sure the little rascals would return.

Uncle Cecil has addressed this question:

What are those threads that float in your field of vision?

The surgery to remove the vitrious is called a vitrectomy (makes sense doesn’t it)?

I thought I’d had floaters before. Had them my whole life as far back as I could remember. They were colorless and translucent. But last year a dark brown floater complex suddenly appeared. It can’t be ignored the way the colorless ones can be ignored. It’s too dark and obvious. I went to the ophthamologist and to retina specialists, who checked my retina and found it wasn’t in any immediate danger. However, there’s nothing to be done about the floater short of surgery and of course they don’t recommend surgery. I asked if they couldn’t give me pills to get rid of it (just hoping) and they said no.

Dr. Bill Floyd, ophthalmologist, says, “There is no medical therapy available to eliminate floaters.”

But others claim laser treatment done at the doctor’s office can break up floaters.
