Do you mean animated movies only? There must be some live-action counterexamples, though I’m too tired to think of any.
Well first of all, I was referring to the temperature at the solid-liquid interface. (Solid ice can be any temperature below 0.000089 °C.) Secondly, there is no longer a “defined” temperature at which water freezes. There *is *a defined temperature for the triple point of water, but *not *the freezing point.
The last, I dunno, 7 or 8 times I’ve visited SDMB, all of the bottom-of-the-page ads have had to do with cats.
If that doesn’t impress you, the two most fatal railroad accidents in Germany, claiming 286 lives in total, occurred on the same day, December 22, 1939.
How about Lady and the Tramp?
To be fair, any number is divisible by 7, 11, 13, and 1001. You just might not get a whole number as a result.
(What about “Lady & the Tramp?” Well, they weren’t really featured, but Jim Dear and Darling had a wonderful relationship. And a baby.)
Spiders have transparent blood.
Ants can, in many cases, be severely curtailed by sprinkling cinnamon.
Whoops! Composed this an hour ago, got distracted, came back & hit “submit” without checking. But I knew better, because no fact goes unturned here for an entire hour!
No, no, you’re right. That’s still only 3 movies.
And yes, I was talking animated.
Damnit I should fact check my… uh… facts.
The Beaker People (so named because of the distinctive shaped pottery found in their graves) are believed to influenced the introduction of metallurgy in Ireland.
It’s not known if they actually made it to Ireland or if their culture was brought by traders.
Also - deforestation is mainly caused by Vampires and the “moon landing” was actually filmed in a film studio on Mars
Mulan does as well.
The first mention of baseball on record is in Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey.
If you were to place a telescope at the proper distance from the Sun, somewhere past Uranus, you could use the sun’s gravity as an enormous lens, allowing you to see much better, much farther. “Objects as small as a continent as far away as Andromeda” is the quote I recall.
Nuclear reactors have existed in nature, formed by natural geologic forces. They can’t appear any more, since so much nuclear decay has occurred.
People’s brains use two methods of recognizing other people, one which lets them identify who you are, and another which provides the ‘click’ of recognition when you see someone familiar. We know they are separate because brain damage can damage one but not the other. People who lose the first part will be unable to identiy the people they see, be will recognize them as familiar.
People who lose the second part, the ‘click’ of recognition, have been known to murder loved ones, whom they recognize as looking the same, but no longer recognize as a familiar person; they become convinced that they are some sort of doppelganger who has replaced the familiar person. So they attack or kill someone thinking that they are avenging them.
And the Emperor’s New Groove.
And Sleeping Beauty … and Hercules.
The main character’s parents, I don’t think they ever show Kuzco’s (sp?)
Well fine then, my fact is void.
There are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on the planet Earth. that just blows me away.

I don’t think this is correct. at least in the 1980’s i met dozens of Tibetans that openly had hunting rifles. these were nomads and not part of the State economy.
outside of huners this may be true. i’ve never met a private gunowner in Han china in the past 10 years.
I don’t think this is entirely correct. at least in the 1980’s i met dozens of Tibetans that openly had hunting rifles. these were nomads and not part of the State economy. No cite, just personal experience
outside of huners this may be true. i’ve never met a private gunowner in Han china in the past 10 years.
How can this be true? Not saying you’re wrong, but what else is in a gallon of liquid hydrogen but hydrogen?
And to add to the pool:
The ancient Spartans remained in their all-male barracks even after they married. On their wedding night the man would sneak through his wife’s window to have sex with her. She would be waiting for him, having cut her hair short and dressed up in men’s clothing.
Xuxa has sold 40 million albums and is worth $250 million.
You’re supposed to fill your mouth with gravel and put on a baritone voice when you say that.
On an Irish theme (taken from a book I can’t recall the title of though it may be ‘Well I Never!: Interesting facts about Ireland’)):
Between 795 and 830 there were 26 Viking attacks on Irish monasteries - while 87 were sacked by the Irish themselves.
In 1792, inspired by the events of the French Revolution, pupils at Belfast Royal Academy mutinied and seized the school building. After unsuccessfully trying to shoot their headmaster they surrendered quietly to the miltia.
(who hasn’t wanted to do this?)
In 1750 the Church of Ireland Bishop of Raphoe was shot dead while carrying out a highway robbery.
In the 7th century St. Killian became the only Irishman to be offered the Papacy - he refused.
There are more where those came from if anyone is interested…
