Post five statements you truly believe but expect most of the board to disagree with.

This board seems to be overwhelmingly against America’s public sex offenders registry, as I would be if it were implemented here, but in related threads there is always a chorus of largely unchallenged statements about how sex offenders are low risk and rarely reoffend. People don’t consider that conviction of a sex offence is difficult and rare for a multitude of reasons.

As for the burglar thing, see poll results and responses for this thread here and although the premise is more sympathetic, note the general tone of responses and results in this thread.

Here are my 5:

  1. I think that a lot of the atheists on this board must have had sand kicked in their faces as kids, or have been picked on mightily, because I have never met a more butthurt bunch.

  2. I think that roughly half of the people on this board are the biggest pussy hypochondriacs ever. Just look at all the dumbass threads about how various foods make them gag, or how they are gimpy in various ways.

  3. I think that the proper path for most legislation is the middle, not the progressive route, and not the conservative route. I generally think progressives are muddle-headed utopian idiots, and conservatives are the intellectual heirs to Ebenezer Scrooge.

  4. I think that a large part of poverty IS lifestyle and educational choices. Not all, not even most, but more than the total abrogation of responsibility for being poor that people around here seem to advocate.

  5. There is something fundamentally broken about black culture and communities in the US. Not black people, mind you, but black culture. It seems to circle the wagons around black people before guilt or innocence is determined, and relies on intimidation to try to influence legal proceedings. In addition, the acceptance of unwed mothers and absentee fathers has a huge negative effect on that community, yet very few people speak out about it, and those that do are shouted down (see Bill Cosby).
