One thing I really miss lately is high-quality surround sound music. I had this before I bought a laptop and sold my Desktop PC. My intention was to buy the external Soundblaster (exdigy?) and a fairly expensive (£200-£400) ‘more-than-stereo’ (5.1, 6.1, whatever) speaker system.
Being the ultimate procrastinator, I’ve had my laptop for over a year now and I’m still putting up with listening to music through it’s four tiny speakers.
What are you missing lately?
(If the thing you miss is far less trivial, such as a loved one. That’s ok. All is welcome here. We’ve had threads in the past where the trivial and significant alike mingled freely without much controversy)
I miss poutine. That’s french fries with gravy and cheese curds. Nobody down here knows what it is, or will venture to make it. I haven’t had any in seven years.
P.S.: I’ve never heard surround sound. Don’t know anybody who has such a system.
I miss home, my family, and my best friends. Luckily I go home for spring break tomorrow. My friend Steve’s break is the week after mine, though, which sucks.
I miss eating food besides bagels and cereal (such is the life of a college student). Again, I’m going home for a week tomorrow, which will fix that.
I miss sleep, which is another thing I’ll get at home. I wanna go home.
My flip answer was going to be “a life” but that was before I realized you have to have actually had something to miss it… so anyway…
I miss my kitty (and namesake)
I miss the long talks we (family-not the cat) used to always have around the dinner table
I miss sunwarmed tomatoes fresh from the garden
And I seem to be missing a green-handled pair of scissors. I think one of my cats might be plotting something.
Food not involving tortillas and hot sauce. THat’s the secret to making cafeteria food here tolerable: slap some in a tortilla, slather with hot sauce, consume.
I miss being pregnant. It was all over way too fast. While I’m glad my little micropremie is doing well, I miss having her inside me. I was really looking forward to the last trimester, including all the awful things like strangers trying to touch my big belly and trudging up three flights of stairs to my apartment with a belly like a watermelon. As it turned out, I had to deliver her just when I was starting to show a teeny bit. So I guess I miss what I was looking forward to, but didn’t get to do.
I miss my best friend, my own personal Canuck, and my boyfriend. All one person. I also miss the delightful coffee of his homeland. I have a big can of the brew-at-home kind they sell at the grocery stores up there, but it’s not the same! It’s not the same!!
