Post your first name here!

psssttt…my names not really Inigo.
I didn’t even think Inigo was a real name!
In all seriousness (honest…I swear!) my name is Andrèa. Andrèa Michele. But you can call me Brian.

Bri

Tim

Tymp is just how I spell it for people foolish enough to ask.

My name is Matthew McLauchlin.

Yes, Matthew McLauchlin.

Em-ay-tee-tee-aitch-ee-doubleyou.
Em-cee, ellayou-SEE-aitch, not ghee-aitch, ell-aye-enn.

Or, if I’m speaking French,

emme-à-té-té-ache-i-doublevé.
emme-cé-elle-ah-u-cé-ashe-elle-i-enne.

But you can call me Matt.

NO WAY! I used to watch Lord Peter Wimsey shows all the time with my parents when I was a kid (imagine how lonley a thread that would be “All Dopers who watched Lord Peter Wimsey as a kid-check in here!”) It was the show with Ian somebody playing the part of Wimsey. I really don’t remember much except that he was a clever and funny chap. I didn’t realize that his middle name was Death, though. Maybe it was some unconscious recollection that caused me to choose this name. That is, if you’re not just playing with my head here.
Alright, back to the names

Yes way. Lord Peter has two middle names–I cannot for the life of me recall exactly what the second was…something like Baeden or Braeden…so I didn’t mention it. But I do remember thinking how cool it was and he actually goes by his two middle names in one mystery. (The one where he moonlights as a copywriter for an ad agency…DAMN why can’t I remember the names of anything?)
So, Death. You have a way cool name in my book and you are MOST definitely not alone in the watching-Lord-Peter-as-a-kid category. I grew up on that stuff.

Sorry about the hijack.

Hi, my name is Steve, and I’m a dope-a-holic.

[hijack]

I don’t mind my name, (Kent), but noone ever gets it right. They assume it’s really Ken, or that it’s short for Kenneth. I once had a boss that insisted on calling me Kenneth. No amount of pleading could get him to get it right. Even CHECKS were made out to Kenneth.

Plus I have a last name that has multiple spellings, depending on ancestry. And of course, being from the group with considerably smaller representation in this country, noone gets that right either.

Chance of someone getting “Kent” correct? 1 in 4. Chance of someone getting last name right? 1 in 10. Chance of someone getting BOTH right without help? zilch, zip, nada. Chance of someone getting BOTH right WITH help? 1 in 3.

You mean it’s NOT spelled “Jon Smyth”?

Seems like there are more Keith’s here than you can shake a stick at… not that anyone would be so foolish to provoke us.

Pete

Keith

Lord Peter Death Bredon Whimsey. Pronounced ‘Deeth’. The ad agency is in “Murder Must Advertise,” and he also uses it in a short story (whose title I forget.) “Death Bredon” is supposed to be Lord Peter’s disreputable cousin. I’ve never seen the Ian Carmichael Peter Whimseys, but I’d really love to see the other versions, the ones that aired on Mystery. Are they available?

You know, I can’t imagine that PBS or BBC wouldn’t pass the opportunity to make some dough on that. I’d guess you could contact your local channel or visit BBCamerica on the web.
Are you referring to the version with “Tristan” from ‘All Creatures Great and Small?’ (I told you I was awful with names.) That newer series was excellent. Heck, my dad probably recorded all of them–so if worse comes to worse…

best of luck,
struuter

Judging from the nature of your post, and my .sig, I can only assume that the “your” that you’re referring to is me. Awww, you’re so romantic!

caroline
pronounced caro-LINE as in a straight line
or you can say it in french but please please please don’t call me carolyn, I HATE IT. thank you

C’est évident, non?

My name is Louis, but everyone calls me Louie.

Jenn…short for Jennifer…call me Jenni and die a long painful death.

It’s Jenny. No, not short for Jennifer. Not Virginia or Jenevieve either. It’s just Jenny. In the US, people who really want my attention call me Jennifer. Since that’s not my name, I pay even less attention. Serves them right for assuming things.

So, bluemonchichi, seeing as you live in VA, how U doin?

Leah.

and I hope someone says that is the most adorable name they know.
