Post your President Trump predictions here

I predict that Trump will be our greatest president ever…or our last.

Bill Cosby isn’t charged with any federal crimes, Annie.

He faces a criminal trial in Pennsylvania, where Andrea Constand accused him of acts amounting to aggravated indecent assault under Pennsylvania law. His trial on that matter is currently scheduled for before June 5, 2017. That’s the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v. Cosby; a Pennsylvania judge will preside over a criminal trial to determine whether Cosby’s acts violated the criminal law of Pennsylvania.

It’s very common to think about the President as being able to pardon people, but he can actually only pardon “offenses against the United States,” which are federal crimes. This power comes from Article II, Section 2 of the United States Constitution. A President can’t pardon state criminals; that power is typically reserved to the governor of the state.

In this instance, Cosby would need Tom Wolf, the current governor of Pennsylvania, to act, not the President.

Anybody predicting that he manages to govern as the social liberal that he actually is, and doesn’t feel the need to dance with the ones that brung him?

I’m seeing the pardon power as a shiny toy that we could let DJT play with for the next four years. (Just wait til he hears that you can pardon dead people!) So while the ignorance fighting is appreciated, eep-kay at-thay iet-quay.

He is already showing his character - being a big LIAR!

May not exactly build that “wall” his staff are now saying.

This is no surprise to the smart people who could see this would happen, but others who fell for this must feel quite stupid now! FYI - This is called “REALITY”.

I work in a public library. Most of my coworkers are intelligent people. Not sure what to think about this one (I doubt it, but I listened to his rant). In a nutshell, this is what one of my colleagues said yesterday.

He thinks that Trump is a marked man. Who will put that bullet in his brain? Not a distraught citizen. Not some nutcase. Our own government. Of course the cover up will be stellar. He believes without a doubt that it will happen because our government cannot take the chance of our military being compromised while Trump and Putin become “best buds” and decisions are made that could ultimately affect our security.

Thoughts?

Trump will not be assassinated. Because Pence.

I seriously doubt it. If he died in office, even of apparent natural causes, his supporters would automatically believe the liberals or Muslims killed him and I would foresee dangerous social unrest. I loathe the man thoroughly, but I want to see him survive to see his defeat in 2020.

Took the words right out of my mouth. “The government” is well aware that Pence is a bigger nightmare than Trump, so The Donald is safe.

Well that was my exact question. To which he responded that in his opinion Trump is a much bigger loose cannon. I don’t predict that my coworker is correct by any means, but it did leave me thinking about it a bit.

I predict President Trump will violate all 10 Commandments in one damning action.

I’ve heard people say that the Republican Congress will never impeach Trump. But if Trump does enough unpredictable, unpopular things (and any impeachable things), I could see Congress impeaching and convicting him. This would make Pence president, which they’d prefer. And if they wait until two years into Trump’s term, President Pence could run for re-election twice.

There’s no way that realization sets in in four years.

People were fooled into thinking the USA is a disaster zone, despite the visible fact it isn’t. If the economy tanks Trump can just blame someone else. People make decisions and assign blame based on emotion, not fact.

I am starting to come around to the thinking that he isn’t a fascist, this isn’t the end of our Republic, it’s just going to be 4 years of shitty Conservative Republican Governance. Not to downplay how shitty that will be. It’s depressing that that is the best case scenario.

If the Dems are smart, they will vote to acquit. VP Pence has no powers such as declaring war or signing bills into law/vetoing bills.

Are you basing this on words, or deeds?

I think this is almost certainly true; he figured out early on that there was a certain rage and frustration in a certain population, and being inflammatory, unapologetic and generally the antithesis of a “traditional” politician was the way to win their hearts. Hence the campaign bullshit.

Like others have said, historically, he’s been more or less centrist, being a sometime Democrat and Republican, with the turn to the crazy Right coinciding suspiciously with serious political ambition.

I don’t think he’s really the de-facto head of the Republican party in the way that past presidents have set policy for their parties; in this case, the party will probably handle the sausage-making, and he’ll just sign it without being overly involved (basically an elaboration on what **Quimby **says).

He’ll probably end up like an American version of Baghdad Bob- no international issue will pass without heated rhetoric from him, because that’s what he enjoys, and there is NO bigger stage from which to bloviate and rant. This doesn’t mean that he’ll actually commit troops; just that he’ll like the idea that he can say shit and the entire world will listen.

They’ve never realized it before. Why start now?

I’ll post this in yet another thread:

The idea that the Freedom Caucus would MUCH prefer Pence over Trump - Trump has a national base; Pence can be controlled, and is a “True Believer” of all things Right Wing.

An assassination would be too public, exposing too many questions (Hell, we haven’t finished with JFK).
But Impeach/Convict? While pointing out that he has failed to:
Deport 12 million people
Build Wall
Keep out every last Muslim
Restore Appalachian coal mining (did anyone believe that one? - there are all kinds of problems, and no way to overcome them)
“Nuke ISIS”
etc.

They can sell it as “holding him to his word!” and maybe pick up the mouth-breather contingent.

Then they have Pence, who will not only rubber-stamp simply every last little thing, but maybe put a “more appropriate” face on it.

It may come down to: Trump needs the Dems to guarantee his job.

This is how I feel. He’s going to surround himself with a bunch of Establishment Republicans and just let them do a bunch of shitty Conservative stuff and it’ll be like Bush 2 all over again but with a more overtly racist populous.
