Just for fun…pick the THREE outcomes of this…whatever it is…you think are most likely.
IMO the top two are no-brainers and it’s tough to pick from the bottom four. I didn’t include an option for dying in office since it’s impossible to predict and not funny, but feel free to write it in.
That’s why I voted “other”. I really don’t think he’ll be here 4 years from now, most likely as a result of natural causes.
Which leaves us with a Pence presidency.
like legitimate natural causes, or Stalin-like “natural causes” (ie the CIA, military, Congress, etc. are nature)?
If he loses the second term/fails to change the constitution to allow a third, this speech is in the works.
I don’t know if this is really a trump speech, but “I’m hearing”
I think there’s a good chance that Trump’s presidency will end in disgrace.
He has surrounded himself with a band of Craven Sycophants, many of them them unprincipled, long-time political insider-opportunists with fading careers, who saw how easily he could manipulate ignorant voters, and were willing to roll the dice by jumping on his wagon.
They gambled and won. But like many gamblers, they won’t know when to stop. They’re very likely to start engaging in shameless, self-serving overreach, and eventually the media will expose it.
Trump has figured out how to manage his own media image, but he won’t be be able to control the Crave Sycophants. In fact, he’ll depend on them, because he doesn’t give a shit enough to learn about things, and this dependency will give them a false sense of impunity.
Meanwhile, he won’t, of course, be able to “make America [del]white[/del] great” again, or create all those jobs, or stop ISIS, or whatever, and when the economy becomes worse, enough people will see that he was full of shit all along and not vote for him again.
This all seems very likely to me.
Other – He makes it through four years, but doesn’t run for re-election, due to some combination of his being bored with the job, and the Republican establishment pressuring him.
But I think this is only barely the most likely scenario. Very close behind (probability wise) is Trump simply running for re-election. Would he win? That I can’t say. It would be close (again). I think maybe the Demicrat would have, oh, a 71.8% chance of defeating him.
Now where have I seen that number before?
It’s a difficult job. Just look at the way it has aged Obama.
Trump won’t be able to handle it, which is a shame, because Pence.
Seriously; he’s either defeated in 2020, or decides not to run for reelection.
Satirically; a group of Republican elites corner him on the steps of the Capitol building and stab him in the back one by one, and his final words, as he stares into the face of his greatest betrayer, are “Et tu, Giuliani?”
I don’t know where all this hope is coming from, and I am surprised that people are still believe that something will happen to put a stop to him. He will stay, he will gather power, he will change laws as fast as and as much as he can to gather more power, he will run for re-election, and(if he does as good a job collecting Republican Party gonads in a mason jar as he did during his election campaign) he will be re-elected. Any Democratic candidate will be demonized as bad(or worse) as Hillary was.
I really wish people would read his books and actually study his history: The man is addicted to money, power and, above all else, being THE GREATEST. “Do the ends justify the mean?” is a question he has never even asked himself.
edited to add: And you can forget about any revolt or “rising up”. We’re just a bunch of lobsters, and Trump is in control of the stove.
He’s also 70 years old, and he’s just been hired for a job that tends to age people rapidly.
In four years, he might not even be constitutionally capable of running for reelection.
Yeah-Remember when they removed Reagan for that very reason?
He starts selling a liquid called “Trumpdo” with the tagline “It’s what plants crave” and opens dozens of factories and changes the law so farmers can only use it to hydrate their crops.
“In fire.” - Kosh
I’m thinking back to the error in polls thread, and how the ‘winning’ answer was that the polls were understating HRC’s strength by 2 or more % points. These polls are gteed to indicate what most people participating want to happen.
Most presidents didn’t finish two terms. Obama was the 17th person elected to the presidency twice or more out of 43 different people who have held the office (Obama is 44th by the convention of counting Cleveland twice). He will be the 14th to be elected to and complete two terms. But others who succeeded to it without being elected, but then got elected themselves, or got re-elected but didn’t finish the second term, also did as well as they could politically over two terms.
So getting re-elected isn’t dominant but common, and I’d say best unbiased estimate is that it’s the most likely single outcome for Trump, even taking into account his age and Trump-ness, though perhaps less than 50-50.
I think he’ll either get impeached for trying to enrich himself or cover up past misdeeds, or get so frustrated that he quits, or have a mental breakdown and get institutionalized.
I mean, he fired so many people during his campaign, are there really anyone with any understanding of the jobs who will be able to be part of his cabinet and not piss him off? And then every time he replaces people he’ll require senate approval, no way there are no republican senators without sufficient Trump hatred to make that a hardship when they get fed up with his histrionics. Any way he’s going to be able to deal with the congress and senate not bowing to his every whim?
They will bow to his every whim, and they don’t have the balls to impeach him.

have you seen Rump’s fat angry face? he will have a massive MI and Pence will be the president.
there will be celebrations in the streets and those people will then be arrested.
I voted for He gets bored (he won’t resign though). There will be the initial rush but then after a while of dealing with the immovable object of Congress and the endless onslaught of crises and whatever distracting stupidities international and domestic, he’ll hit the links figuratively if not literally.
