Post your President Trump predictions here

I think you’re in for a lesson on just how outdated and inadequate the rules governing his activities actually are. I think he’s onto the idea that there’s tons of room for him to play fast and lose. And I suspect he’s right. He seems uninterested in governing, and will be happy to let his kids be the shadow government. What’s to stop him? He’ll sew incompetence into every department making prosecuting him all the harder. Sorting out who did what, will be impossible, in the end. And he won’t be above using the media grabbing white supremist angle as distraction whenever he needs to.

I doubt he’s even worried about inevitably getting tossed since he’s aware weak, outdated restrictions guarantee he’ll be teflon. His mastery of, “I didn’t know.”, cultivated ignorance as a defence is a little breathtaking. (There is film of him testifying. It’s astounding!)

That’s what I think is coming.

I basically think we’re going to be Russia.

Everyone thinks Trump is just some dumb clown or that he’s not different from any other republican. But Trump is nothing like this country has ever seen before.

He is an Autocrat and a Putin clone. He doesn’t care about the law.

He doesn’t care about tradition. He will do whatever he wants to and no one will be able to stop him.

The Democrats care too much about the law and doing the right thing - they won’t have any idea how to combat or fight against a power-mad dictator who doesn’t play by the rules.

And the republicans will just meekly go along with whatever he says out of fear and greed.

I predict he will completely rewrite the constitution, and that he won’t ever leave the Whitehouse until he dies. Which thankfully means we shouldn’t have to put up with him for more than 20 or 30 years.

Of course by then, the country will be broken and the republicans, having learned from Trump, will just continue governing in his footsteps.

Civil rights will vanish for anyone who isn’t a straight white male, but we might get universal healthcare, which will be nice. When we’re getting beat up every day, we’ll at least be able to go to the hospital to get stitched up.

I see a very dark future now, although, I was starting to feel a tiny bit optimistic until I read this article:

http://www2.nybooks.com/daily/s3/nov/10/trump-election-autocracy-rules-for-survival.html

Obamacare goes, Medicare and Social Security probably get gutted although they’ll call it “reform”.

Widespread persecution of non-whites and women, with the police and government looking the other way even when they don’t lead the mob. Lots of violence, rapes and killings.

The persecution of homosexuals and transsexuals is enshrined into law, including the torture/murder “beat the gay away” conversion camps.

Taxes for the wealthy, regulations for corporations are gutted.

Public land is sold to the corporations, who will make a point of despoiling the former national parks as much as possible so no one will ever demand them back. They end up looking like garbage heaps; with the forests clearcut and toxic waste dumped everywhere.

NATO collapses and is replaced by a European-only military alliance.

Worldwide economic depression, multiple major wars.

Military strikes on Mexico when they refuse to pay for his wall. Drone strikes at the least, possibly nuclear.

America becomes in effect a racist, plutocratic theocracy, with the systematic persecution of anyone who isn’t white, male, rich or Christian. Many of his supporters will be among the persecuted, but they won’t blame Trump or themselves for it.

Women are reduced to second class citizens.

Voting is heavily suppressed, making sure that only the “correct” people vote; Jim Crow makes a comeback. The non-white and female vote crashes in the next election, which will be a farce that pretty much eliminates the Democrats from politics.

The Democrats roll over for all of this.

As Nixon’s popularity waned (to put it mildly), he was reduced to giving major speeches on domestic military bases, where the audience could be hand-picked.

By comparison, The Donald will have massive adoration.

But: he will either not have any press conferences, or they will be hand-picked like Dick’s toy soldiers.

The tradition of holding briefings and conferences before a wide range of skeptical journalists will soon be over. No one who criticizes Trump will be welcome in the White House briefing room.

That’s something I’ve been thinking about since the one thing he seems like as much as himself is OTHER PEOPLE liking him as much as he does. He knows there are protesters and that people don’t like him, but he can’t hide from the haters and “losers” unless he does carefully selected events. You can screen people for weapons and security risks, but you can’t really stop people from booing. He’s only really performed in front of his own rallies, which are full of people who love him, or more staid events like the debates. If he gives the commencement address, goes to a ribbon cutting, you can’t control the crowds. So will he control his appearances? He’ll avoid the boos, but he’s so narcissistic he needs the applause.

He had to have noticed he only got D-list celebrities at best for his campaign. I bet he thinks once he is in office the A-listers will come around, but what’s he going to do when they don’t?

Given his history of promoting political violence he’ll probably solve that problem by encouraging his devotees to beat into silence anyone who boos him.

Nationwide block party? Are you forgetting that he was elected with almost 50% of the popular vote?

He was elected with the support of a small portion of the *entire population, *though.

There is little reason to believe the 45% that did not vote are disproportionately Democratic. If they are, they should be ashamed of themselves. But I doubt it.

They are disproportionately his targets however; most people are.

I can’t make any sense of that sentence. People who didn’t vote are disproportionately Trump’s “targets,” but targets for what, and why? And if one group is disproportionately his targets, why would you then say “most people” are? Which is it?

Targets for persecution, oppression and exploitation. Anyone who isn’t a rich white American Christian male. Which means most of the population of the US, and the entire population of the rest of the world.

Ah, my bad. Apologies for the misunderstanding. Ignorance fought.

I realize this thread was started so the politically challenged can vent their spleen but I predict the following:

  • The ACA will be brought under budgetary control
  • Businesses will move to the US to take advantage of lower taxes
  • Immigration laws will be enforced
  • Energy restrictions dumped at the last minute by Obama will be nullified
  • Environment restrictions dumped at the last minute by Obama will be nullified
  • News medias will lose subscribers
  • A cure will be found for SNS (Special Snowflake Syndrome)

:smack: *sigh… *

As a professional in the DC area, I can say that there’s pretty serious concern about whether the administration will find anyone competent to appoint to actually run agencies. There is also deep concern about the proposed hiring freeze. The operating assumption is that the competent people will leave and the agencies will all flounder.

As a federal contractor, I don’t think I can make any predictions about where I’ll be working in a year, which is a shame because I really like my job.

My money is on impeachment for DJT, but hopefully not until close to the midterms.

Will the next NBA or NCAA basketball champions be invited to the White House? And if they are, will they accept?
