As a child in the mid '60s, my father drove a car that was provided to him by his employer. We were on vacation in the Canadian Rockies where the runaway lanes at the time were simply very steep dirt road near the bottom of a hill.
Dad got the brilliant idea to see how high he could get the car up the runaway lane.
I remember we got about two-thirds of the way up. He panicked a bit when he realized he would have to reverse down, and never tried that stunt again.
