I once read somewhere, maybe on SDope, one could possibly get a letter postmarked from any place? How can this be done, if true? (Other than having a friend in another city help you out…)

As far as I know, you just put your letter in a bigger envelope, mail it to the postmaster at the city you want the mark from, along with a note asking them to mail your letter from there. As long as it has a stamp on it, any PO will mail your letter.
