How many postmasters?

I’m assuming that a postmaster is a county-wide job and that there are 3000+ people with that moniker.
With this in mind, I figure the best way to reach one person in each county in America is to contact the postmasters.
Anyone know how to access an e-mail list or a snail mail llist of all the postmasters in America? USPS FAQ’s doesn’t seem to have the answer as best as I could tell.

You don’t need to know their names. I believe every ZIP code has one.

Just find a list of ZIP codes and send the letter to “Postmaster, XXXXX” and it should find the right person.

You could put in the city and state to keep everyone happy.

Just a note–no, not every zip code has its own postmaster. We’ve got four or five zip codes here in Decatur but only one postmaster.

And as samclem’s link shows, Postmasters are tied to localities, not counties. Some counties will have only one; some may have many. New York City may be a special case, since the site lists only one Postmaster for New York, but it comprises five counties.

But if you send a letter to Postmaster for Zip Code X, it will still find its way to the right person even if that Postmaster is also responsible for Zip Codes Y, Z, and A won’t it?

maybe if you send a mail to postmaster@postmaster.gov, he can help you

(postmaster@something is the standard email for the person who runs that particular domain)

Maybe there is a better way to contact ONE person from each and EVERY county in the US.

Any suggestions?
