Pot smoking celebrity trinity

Edit: Apologies to the mods if this belongs in Cafe Society. I just figured that even though I’m talking about celebrities I’m talking about their drug habits and not their careers, that’s why I placed the thread here.

Two categories, living and dead.

Living.
If you think of Willie Nelson or Snoop Dogg pot smoking should immediately spring to mind. In fact, some people are probably more aware of their pot smoking than their music. But who else should be included to round out this list?

Dead.
Jim Morrison and Bob Marely obviously. But who else?

Living: Nelson, Snoop Dog, Michael Phelps
Dead: Morrison, Marley, and Dylan (he introduced the Beatles to weed)

Anyone affiliated with Cypress Hill. Possibly Paul McCartney. Definitely Tommy Chong.

Peter Tosh.

Cheech and Chong man.

I wished the :wally: emoticon still worked. Of course!

Woody Harrelson

Bob Dylan is still alive.

Cheech & Chong made a career of smoking dope, but Cheech has moved on to other things.

:sigh:

I was thinking John Lennon for that spot, remembered that Dylan introduced him to it, forgot that the category was DEAD PEOPLE.

Sorry, Bob. Glad you’re still with us.

:wally:

Living:
Seth Rogan
James Garner

Some pretty good ones. Although I never heard that James Garner does pot.

Maybe Dylan can be more of pot smoking St. John the Baptist then?

Louis Armstrong was a lifelong weedhound.

Matthew McConaughey springs to mind, but it’s hard to separate the weed smoking from the naked bongo playing.

My man, George Carlin.
mmm

Nah - that was “Hal Sleet, the hippie-dippy weatherman…with all the hippie, dippy weather, man!”

(old Carlin routine reference, for those of you not up on The Master…)

That’s a sure bet, not a “possibly”.

The Black-Eyed Peas

Living: Doug Benson, Kevin Smith, Zach Galifianakis, Seth Rogan, James Franco

Mischa Barton, Haley Joel Osment, and Prince Harry of Wales.

As for the dead, it’s hard to say. Just about anyone from the '60s and '70s would have been familiar with weed, but I can’t think of anyone now dead who was known for their consumption the way Cheech and Chong were. I don’t know much about Jerry Garcia, for instance; he might have given it up later in life. And for the ones who didn’t get a “later in life,” weed is not what killed them. Same for people from the early '90s. I’m sure Kurt Cobain and Tupac Shakur smoked up, but I don’t remember that it defined either of them. It defines Snoop Dogg, but he’s still with us. (And maybe that tells us something that Californians can remember in the next state election. ;))

ETA: I think out of all the Beatles, Paul is the only real devotee of the herb. The others, I think they phased it out when the '60s, or at least the '70s, were over. So I wouldn’t include Lennon or Harrison, but feel free to prove me wrong.

So, Dylan introduced Lennon to the weed, and Ian Tyson is credited with introducing it to Dylan (although he claims not to remember it, or for that matter, much else about that era…)

what goes around comes around
