“Helluva Good” dip is one hell of a good dip.
Goes best with Ruffles with Ridges or Utz with Ridges.
I know this isn’t exactly a recipe. Try this one:
Use plain potato chips and lightly sprinkle with vinegar and Old Bay seasoning. Careful not to overdo with either of these spices. Enjoy!
Well, it’s kind of a recipe…
Don’t know if you’d be too into this, but they make a nice substitution for croutons on a salad in a pinch. Just mash’em up into little pieces, throw them on, and you’re set.
Potato chips make a great chicken breading. Crush 'em up, mix with a little flour. Dip the chicken in some beaten egg, dregde in mixture and fry or bake. YUMMY!
They also make a great topping for potato casserole or tuna casserole. Just crush, top casserole and bake. Yum, yum, yummy!

Forget the recipe and just pop that bag open and delve right in. They are best that way.
My daughter has been known to insert potato chips (and cheezits, and other salty snacks) into her peanut butter sandwiches.
I seem to recall a number of casserole recipes (think '50s style tuna casserole with mushroom soup and peas) that use crushed chips as the topping. You might check out the older edition of Joy of Cooking or one of the retro cookbooks that have gained popularity lately.
Zette,
I remember my mom making something that she called “potato chip casserole”. I have NO idea what was in it or how to make it. I just recall it being a heavenly creation.
Funny how one’s memory plays tricks, but perhaps it was just a potato casserole with chips on top. Do you know of any casseroles where potato chips are a staple?
I know someone who crushes them up in Tuna salad. It’s not bad.
Also, my sister the vegetarian crushes them up in her cottage cheese . . .
Take some macaroni&cheese, generously cover with potato chip crumbs. Bake. Eat. Yummy.
:sigh: ‘Helluva Good’ dip, and the onion dip was THE best. I hate onions, but I will put up with the inevitable ogeda for ‘Helluva Good’ onion dip. Can’t find it anywhere here in Florida.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who puts potato chips in my sandwichs: tuna (with a little chopped sweet pickles) and potato chips on top between two slices of rye bread. Lovely crunchy sound. Works on cheeseburgers too.
And yes, I miss mom’s tuna noodle casserole with made with cream of mushroom soup and potato chips. Saturday lunch after a morning of cartoons.
I believe the recipe was canned tuna fish, canned or frozen green peas and cream of mushroom soup (maybe slightly dilluted–1/2 can?), mixed together, dumped in a casserole and topped with crumbled potato chips and baked. It was good back when I was young.
Since I know you’re trying the veg thing (yay!), you might be able to substitute Tuno (a soy-tuna by Natural Foods, I think, that is available at Nature’s Bin); its a really good substitute. But its also the size of two regular cans of tuna so you’d probably have to use twice as much of everything else.
Me, I like chips on faux (soy) bologna sandwiches.
Cheers!
Courtesy of my niece (age 7) Take one ham sandwich with mayonnaise on the bread of your choice, top with Sour Cream and Onion chips. Leave the crusts behind, cause they are yucky. Enjoy.

Odie, ever since I was a kid, I have LOVED chips on sandwiches! Ham and cheese, with BBQ chips is besst (no mayo - its gross).
Mmmmmm chips
Peta,
THAT’S IT!!!
Now I gotta go home and cook.
