Is there a device for any purpose that will enable me to make multiple holes in a potato quickly and relatively safely?
I found something called the “Potato Punch” but it only works on huge potatoes and nothing normal sized.

A paper or plastic straw. Stick your thumb over the end and punch away.
You mean, other than a fork?
Baked, or raw?
European potato or African potato?
Ice pick?
I’m not sure what size hole you want to make in a potato or why, but how about an apple corer? I have something smaller but similar for removing the inedible cores of strawberries.
Spud gun?
How big of a hole do you want? And is the desired end a well-ventilated potato or a pile of potato slugs?
Yuck.
the world of leatherworking has tons of punches that could work depending on application.
My first thought as well. But we really need to know more about the size and purpose of the holes before we can be sure.
Wouldn’t the spud gub use the potato(e) to make a hole in something else?
Or to make the potato less than whole?
Apparently there are two types of spud guns.
one that you poke into a potato to grab small pieces of that shoot out. So small pieces of the potato become your ammo. (Retro Spud Gun - Potato Pellet Shooter | shoot pistol pellets potatoes toy – Yellow Octopus)
one built of large pvc pipes that uses ignited hair spray, lit via a charcoal grill sparker, that launches a whole potato over a hundred yards. (Potato cannon firing - YouTube)
