umm… no, no you didn’t.
but ah, thanks.
“If anybody wants a sheep, that is proof that he exists.”
Pretty, AND elegant. Any more at home like you, Mega [Insert lustful leer here]
It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters is whether I win or lose.
i’m not entirely sure what happened to this thread, but don’t hold your breath for me to complain.
: )
“If anybody wants a sheep, that is proof that he exists.”
Mega,
I just have to say that I thought you were a cutie just because of your name. For some reason I think “mega the roo” is the cutest board handle. Seeing your pictures on your site of course did nothing but reinforce my impression of your overall cuteness.
What is the meaning behind your super-cute name?
Bill
although i’m beginning to suspect that this may be a test of my gullibility, i will cooperate nonetheless.
when i quit my job about a year ago, the people i worked with were forever asking me what i was going to do. i told them i was buying a bright pink polyester suit and having a gold pendant made that said “megaroo de groovio”.
the megaroo stuck.
then, with my tendency to make up, rearrange and reconstruct words, it was quite naturally, (in my world, anyway) split up. mega the roo.
yeeha.
“If anybody wants a sheep, that is proof that he exists.”
Cool. I like that too, Megaroo de Groovio.
I guess you never got the polyester suit or the medallion.
Thanks.
I suppose I should mention that my original impression based on your name was of a very small, cute, kangaroo named Mega (in one of those strange mixed-up namings like calling very big guys Tiny). I don’t know why that impression came to me, but it did.
could it have anything to do with roo, the kangaroo from winnie the pooh?
I agree. Mega the Roo is a very cute name…but what kind of a dumb-ass name is Billdo???
Okay, okay, okay…in the interest of full disclosure (I do read Brill’s Content after all) I admit that Billdo is my real-life brother.
And Mega–he’s a super-swell guy in spite of his screen name.
PARADOX:
Wow! Almost everybody jumped all over this poster and not a single person welcomed the person to the board. :delayed: WELCOME TO THE BOARD PARADOX!! I thought that was good SD policy along with “don’t be a jerk”, which many of you came close to being. With one post to his credit apparently he didn’t come back. I am a little bit surprised after seeing so much insightful thought in other posts that hardly anyone gave this poster credit for having meaning in the post. How can all of you dopers who have gone to the trouble to understand the etymology of a word like “fuck” then not understand that all of our civilized words and symbols have a history and meaning? I think what this person was saying in a romanticized way that most people missed is Cecil’s basic incantation “Fight ignorance”. If you are a person who tries to understand more about the things you are seeing and reading then everything “becomes a potential message”. If you see a picture in a museum and you take the trouble to learn more about the painting, who painted it, when was it painted, what were the circumstances of the society where it was painted, then this painting has become a message to you, a pointer to knowledge. Maybe message is a poor word for it, it is what the poster said in the OP, but I think that despite the misleading terminology the idea was there in the context and saying he was talking about “hidden messages” i.e. subliminal messages, means people were just blowing off the poster without attempting to really understand what he was saying.
I liked it PARADOX!
