'70s? I thought he didn’t get a backlash until the '80s.

I wasn’t born yet when John Lennon said “We’re bigger than Jesus”, but I’ve read a great deal about the Beatles, and I’ve seen that photo of a teenage boy holding up a copy of “With the Beatles”, in front of a bonfire and next to a canister that says “Place Beatle Trash Here”. Or maybe I’m remembering an amalgamation of two or three different photos. At any rate, between this anti-French business and the backlash against the Dixie Chicks, it’s clear that people’s knees jerk just as quickly as they did 37 years ago.
