Power-fucking-tel can suck my nine-inch hogleg!

How hard is this, people? I tell you FOUR fucking times that my cell phone does not work when I go out of town. FOUR times! When I got off of the phone last week, with “Hector,” he told me that, if it doesn’t work for OhDope (my word, not his. I don’t believe Hector was invited), to stop in one of the Powertel stores located in Columbus, Ohio while I was gone, so that they could look at it. As luck would have it, the fucking phone wouldn’t work when I got there. So I went into a Powertel store, where I was “helped” by Tim, who didn’t appear to be able to find his own ass with both hands and a flashlight. Tim’s act of sympathy was pretty transparent. His acting ability such that he couldn’t portray falling if you pushed him off of a cliff. However, did DID change the chip in my phone, so that it would work while I was in Columbus. With a Columbus, Ohio phone number. At a $75 charge. Which I paid, because I needed it for that weekend. Now, upon my return from OhDope, I STILL cannot get resolution. I cannot seem to get ANYONE employed by this company to understand that I no longer WANT a Columbus telephone number. That it’s pointless for my family, who lives 20 minutes from me, call a cell phone number that it about 4 hours from any place that I have EVER lived. Rusty, the dork that I most recently talked to, tells me that they’ll be glad to change my number after rerunning my credit, and charging me another deposit (the original $75 would be counted towards that). Which I refuse to do, since I’ve already paid one. Luckily, I kept the old chip that they took out of my phone, so I can always use that, even if it won’t work out of town. According to the extremely educated Tim, there’s a defect on the chip, but any kind of activation from the Columbus market to the Louisville one will result in yet another credit check, which I refuse to subject myself to, since too many can lead to a negative score on my credit report. So I’m faced with a chip that will not work out of town, and one that will give me 500 anytime minutes and 2000 weekend minutes. I suppose I could keep the two numbers, and just pay the $40 a month so that I can use the Columbus, Ohio number when travelling, and the other locally, but that seems horribly inconvenient, and, quite honestly, is something I shouldn’t have to do. Plus, that would also involve keeping two cell phone numbers, even if I can only use one at a time.

[sub]Oh, yeah…this is the Pit. Shit. Piss. Fuckety fuckfuckfuck[/sub]

I didn’t think Powertel was even in existance anywhere anymore. Weren’t they recently bought out by VoiceStream?

Actually, they’re still going through the merger (I’ve had enough time to read all about their history while sitting in their different offices this week). They don’t expect the full conversion to be complete until the end of next year. That’s part of the problem, I suppose. But I opted to use Powertel’s name since that’s who the service was originally through.
