They used a new overhead line to replace the buried power line.

I learned that prior to the 60s, they only had generators on those 2 islands. No power lines connected them to the main power grid. The lines were run along with the bonner bridge which is now being replaced . (And the new bridge construction was what cut the power lines)
BTW Almost all of eastern NC east of I-95 has no natural gas. People there can use propane .
It’s a conspiracy. Any explanation that does not involve a conspiracy is not correct.

Duh. Obviously, the power cut was a conspiracy led by the Queen, the Vatican, the Gettys, the Rothschilds and Colonel Sanders. (Others would suggest that JFK and Elvis were responsible. But that’s just silly.)
