Wow. I’m going to try this… okay, try to work my way up to this eventually.
Because this is my family.
“Oh, we care about fetuses (until they pop out and want to use our hard-earned money to get educated), and we love all of God’s creatures (if they’re not darker than a spray-on tan), and that nice Glenn Beck has such good Christain values (So, mom, you don’t mind that he’s Morman, right?), and being patriotic means supporting our president* (well, for eight years there it was, but now it’s suddenly the opposite…)* and we lovelovelove while we stab people in the back *(‘well, y’know, ah jes looooove her to death, BUT…’) *”
FWIW I’ve seen the exact same status going around on Facebook with George W. Bush’s name instead of Obama’s. I don’t know who started it, I don’t care. They’re both lame.
Don’t waste energy getting outraged at the stupid crap on Facebook - there’s too much of it.
I’m now waiting to get that email (my family used to love telling jokes where the punchline was the painful death of Hilary Clinton). And if I object, they can hide behind “Oh, it’s just a joke. You liberals are so sensitive.”
I finally did ask my mom to never send us any right-wing forwarded emails, and I haven’t heard the end of it: “Oh, I got the best email about Thomas Jefferson’s faith. But I guess I’m* forbidden* to send it to you…” “Well, maybe, mom, if any of the political emails you’d sent had been, well, true…”
I can’t speak for the OP, but I think it’s a Christian prayer because every single one of my “friends” on Facebook who have joined the group are Christians who attend church every Sunday, teach Sunday school, and go around saying how much they love Jesus.
People who claim to be Christian claim to be praying it. I suppose we could demand to see proof of religious affiliation and video evidence of the prayer being, well, prayed.
In case you wonder, I do not mock you. Rather, what I say is that sometimes certain events are watersheds which should cause you to to either do something passively positive (choose better friends) or actively positive (tell them they’re out of line). That’s all.
Oh, no, I believe you, Bricker. No links necessary.
This is just the first time I ever saw any such thing, personally. Honestly. The worst I ever heard from the Left, is accusing Bush/Cheney/Rove/fill-in-the-blank with war crimes, or racism, or such. Never heard or saw anyone wishing death on any of them. (But again, I fully believe you, that they did.)
If I had, I would have been just as righteously outraged. It’s just not acceptable, no matter who it’s directed at, no matter who’s doing the death-wishing.
