I am against incitements to violence of any stripe, and generally find these jokes in very poor taste, but I’m having a hard time feeling much outrage about this. I’m far more concerned about those shouting red-faced and incomprehensibly through megaphones about the ‘‘war on America’’ than I am about a joke Facebook group.
I mean, for example, I belong to the Facebook Group, ‘‘One out of every 17,000 people who join this group will be mauled by bears.’’ These groups aren’t exactly intended for reasoned and articulate expressions of ideology.
(I had to look up the actual stats, and the chances of being mauled are actually much lower. I also came across an account of the most recent black bear killing on record:
