I had to go look for my post to be sure I had actually contributed more than just my votes. Here’s what I added. One would think the exercise of sorting those votes would have left some sort of impression. All I can say is that whatever impression it did leave, I had managed to repress.
In any case, I will be building whatever eventual poll this thread produces to include the majority (ones with significan votes anyway) from that thread.
I’m anxious to see how many other such threads I participated in!

Posters obsessing over minor annoyances such as a common memes or catchphrases.
Even though I enjoy reading polls like Mustard’s, I’m usually more :dubious: :dubious: :dubious: toward the people who are actively agitated about some phrase, than I am about the phrase itself.
It’s a pastiche on Holmes’s poem “Old Ironsides” that coveys my feelings about the memes – amusement leading to a sense of overkill as they become ‘bandwagon’ gimmicks.

Thanks, and I believe you must be right on the revisiting. It’s going to happen regardless of our feelings about it. Might as well accept the inevitable.
As a project somebody might want to undertake, we might follow some basic thread idea from 1999 to the present and see how often it recurs and under what guise.
Any guess(es) what the theme(s) might be before we start the search? 
Excellent point! Maybe there’s some “rubbernecking” at play when we get all giddy about the way others have such heartburn over such trivial stuff. Makes you wonder what blood pressures must be like here.

Mentioned in mmm’s poll, but not in this one yet. As it is my (least) favorite, I wanted to make sure it got included!
It won’t be too much longer before I undertake the task of collecting all these annoying expressions into a list, both from this thread’s posts and from threads linked to here. Just didn’t want those participants here to think I was dropping the ball. It’s still early, as I see it.
Last time I tried to prune a gigantic list like this one may turn out to be, some grading system had to be used. So the more often a gripe is expressed, the more likely the offending item will make the poll. Just saying…
After all, there is an upper limit to the size of a poll. I’m thinking 200 options. Anybody know better?
