pregnancy

I did mean boy:smack:
I blame baby brain. You know your brain actually shrinks during pregnancy. True fact.
I am having a girl and naming her Celeste Louise

Dhjkshduh d uh ausk

“Letting the fetus snack on mommy’s brain”?

Holy heck, is your baby unborn or undead?

Wishing you the best of luck April.

That last line of the quote freaks me out a little. I feel like I am gestating a ZOMBIE BABY!!

Maybe not, but if she’d laughed as hard as I did I bet it would have worked!

What does it feel like when your water breaks?

 Don’t you know? Thought this was your third time.

Feels like you peed yourself but you didn’t, and it doesn’t smell like pee. Could be a trickle, could be a gush. Sometimes it trickles a bit but then the baby’s head blocks the tear and it won’t leak again for a while.

If you’re not sure, call your doctor/midwife and see what she wants you to do. In the meantime, don’t put anything up your vagina - no tampons*, no fingers, no penises. If your membranes have ruptured, you don’t want anything up there that isn’t sterile, 'cause it could introduce bacteria into the uterus.
*There’s a bit of advice going around the internet to put a tampon in and see if it comes out wet. Pee won’t make a tampon wet, but amniotic fluid leaking will. Bad idea, though. If only tampons were sterile, it’d be a great idea. Since they’re not sterile, it presents an infection risk.

ETA: BrainGlutton, many women never have a spontaneous rupture of their membranes. The doctor may choose to break the bag when you’re lying in bed and don’t really experience it like they do in the movies; a midwife is more likely to leave it alone and let it break on its own as the baby comes out, and then everything is just all wet and gooey and you can’t tell the water breaking from the baby arriving.

It’s my second pregnancy and I was doped up and laying in the hospital bed the first time with my twins. So yeah, I really don’t know. :stuck_out_tongue:

What WhyNot said. My first delivery, it was pretty obvious, as one moment I was in dry pajamas and the next moment I was most decidedly not. Actual birth happened 4 hours later. With my second I was already in the hospital as contractions were pretty steady and the doctor did the job.

Side note: During my Lamaze classes, the instructor gave us a suggestion to prevent embarrassment in case this happened when not at home: First thing when you get to the supermarket put a large glass jar of pickles in the cart. If your water breaks, quickly drop the jar on top of the puddle and exit - quickly.

Any updates, April R?

Little bit is still kicking from the inside. I have my next appt Tuesday. My one on Thursday was uneventful. Still only 1 cm. I figure, since the twins were 5lbs 10 oz and 4lbs 11 oz that she is going to have to get bigger (she is measuring at about 7.5lbs) before my body feels like it is time to get her out. Oh well. On the bright side my belly button is starting to become less of an outie :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah, so she’s “descended?” Another term is “engaged,” meaning the wee one’s head is actually settling in the right position for delivery.

Yep, the doctor says she is in position  The bay doors just won’t unlock!!!

Thinking of you, April R. I think your little Celeste is going to be a stubborn one.

Yep, but I deserve it. I am as stubborn as they come, and my DD Alli is also a spitfire, so she will be in good company. My poor son and husband are in for it.

Open the pod bay doors, Celeste.

TMI warning

I just lost my mucus plug. Gross, :stuck_out_tongue:

Woo-hoo!

So, given that information…no, your water probably didn’t break 4 days ago. Here’s hoping it will tonight!

Something is going on. But no contractions strangely enough. Its been nothing but contractions for a month then nothing the last few days then this. Pregnancy really is unpredictable!
